This happened to me 2 years ago. They said I owed them for a years subscription that I hadn't subscribed to. A few weeks later I received a complimentary issue and then a bill for a years subscription. After much debating on the phone, it was cleared up. Crazy!
If you're going to paint it then I would go with mdo. I have had Lusterboard delaminate (nothing major) on the edges and the raw aluminum backside corrode... although the sign is close to saltwater.
I use the same technique as Dan. Where this is intended for inside, I would use atleast 6mil pvc substrate.The added thickness will give you some depth for mechanical fastners. Also, I have used aluminum composite substrates in the past, but I find that the painted finishes get scratched over...
