  1. Helmet Wrap

From what I hear, 360wraps will not wrap a helmet for just anyone off the street. You pretty much have to be Donald Trump (or know him) to get one done up there. Honestly though, it's just not worth the time. I'd do it as a favor for a friend or whatever, but there is no way in hell that...
  2. Looking for TEXAS state outline eps.

I'm not normally one to flame on here... but if you don't know how to create a vector outline of the state of texas, I'm not so sure you are as "elite" as your name suggests. Welcome to Signs 101!
  3. perf cut with versaworks and vp-540

In the time you have spent trying to figure out how to perf cut your 1000 decals, you could have run to your nearest office supply store, purchased a cheap guillotine style cutter, sliced your 2x2 decals into strips and then used the guillotine to cut them into individual decals.
  4. I designed this and can't remember what font!!

Thanks Caleb... it is Bank Gothic LIGHT. I was looking at Bank Gothic Medium. The lettering is significantly different (besides thickness) in Light vs Medium. Um, Old Paint... I'm not really sure what your point is, but maybe you cut back on the paint huffing for a while.
  5. I designed this and can't remember what font!!

I've been through all my fonts 3 times and can't figure out what font I used for this. Not the logo font... but the other text (name, phone, etc). It's close to Bank Gothic, but not quite. Any ideas?? Normally I keep .txt file notes on fonts, colors, etc. I guess I had a brain fart on this...
  6. another font id, and whomever gets this

Pretty sure the Q is Custom... easily recreated though.
  7. Hello, from Texas! Need Help Please!

Well, it seems I have to correct myself. I passed by one of my "competitors" down the road yesterday evening... one of the guys I mentioned before who had zero design experience and no hired design help. Seems you can't really run a successful shop without a designer. They have gone out of...
  8. Hello, from Texas! Need Help Please!

Well, apparently you are right down the road from me. We do it all and we have over 15 years experience in graphic design and over 10 years experience installing vehicle graphics and wraps. I will tell you first hand that it is often a struggle in this flooded market. There are over a dozen...
  9. take-up reel

Right, the Roland takeup uses the tension bar as an on/off switch for the motor. No slip clutches or electronic eyes. Just simple mechanics but it works great! You can see the tension bar laying against the backside of the vinyl in this pic...
  10. take-up reel

The tension bar lays against the back side of the print and takes up the slack. When the tension bar falls beyond a certain point, the roller kicks on and takes up a few inches of material. It's a great system really. I bought my take up when I bought the vp540. Can't even imagine running a...
  11. Scaling graphics for a box truck wrap

Funny. You call it nonsense, then admit that there is indeed some loss with JPG files. When utilized properly, TIFFs are a lossless file format with no data compression whatsoever. This means the file sizes are quite large. All JPGs are compressed files... regardless of how "trivial" the...
  12. Scaling graphics for a box truck wrap

To be clear, design at 72-100ppi and print at 720x720dpi in standard mode. Only rip lossless formats like TIFFs and PDFs. If you guys are ripping JPGs, you're shooting yourself in the foot.
  13. Scaling graphics for a box truck wrap

For smaller vehicles we design full scale at 100dpi. For really large stuff like boats, trailers, murals, etc we design 1000dpi at 1/10th scale. Then print 1000% in the rip. Makes doing the math easy when you're laying stuff out... and I swear Photoshop handles the files better. In fact, we just...
  14. VP-540 Colors off...please help

Did you run a test print to make sure all the guns are firing? If a portion of the guns in any head are clogged, all your colors will be off.
  15. Printing on Butcher Paper

Isn't butcher paper coated in wax? I don't think the inks will stick. I actually had a customer ask me about something like this a few months ago. I didn't feel comfortable doing it - even as a test - as she was planning on wrapping food in the paper.
  16. VP540 Clogged Heads

Guillermo, you want to use the syringe between the capping station and the pump... not before the capping station. If you tap into the lines after the capping station and suck ink through with the syringe, you are also ensuring that the seal around each head at the capping station is air tight...
  17. Name That Font...

Cool... I figured the SRO was customized... but was hoping it was based on some font. Not too tough to redraw. Thanks for the "oz" tip. You nailed it.
  18. Name That Font...

I can't figure out what the big "SRO" in the center is. I'd like to find the font before I draw it from scratch. Also, I've got something close to "Sports Bar & Cafe" but I can't match it. Anyone?? Thanks!!
  19. VP540 Clogged Heads

One thing -- you have to have a vaccum tight seal when the heads are on the capping station for the syringe method to work. If the rubber gaskets or tubing does not have a good seal, you will not get good suction and you will be pulling air with your syringe instead of the junk from the heads...
  20. VP540 Clogged Heads

Well, the tech made it out before I had a chance to get the heads cleaned myself... and I learned some good tricks so I'm glad he came. He solved the problem in less than 30 minutes. Here's what he did... - removed the panel below the interface - detached the tubes leading from the capping...
