some of my customers are actually afraid to download programs. I have suggested this before. Some try to import my zip file directly into Corel not realizing it needs unzipped first. I have emailed ai and/or eps files and some don't even know what to do next.
What versions of Windows support the unzipping of files?
I have Windows XP running on Parallels on my Mac and it seems to support unzipping of files... right click (extract). I don't recall if I installed this at some point or if it is automatic with XP
So here is my question.... Do any...
I did not create the PDF. If a customer sends me a pdf with vectors I tell them what they already have to save them from having to pay for a conversion. Many times people don't realize that some pdf's contain vectors
I do not cheat people. It would be easy to pretend I did all the work and...
I have a customer with a pdf that is full of vectors. I told them to import into Corel. They have version 13.
I often have Corel customers tell me they cannot import PDF's into Corel and retrieve the vectors. Are they wrong? I assumed Corel had this ability. If not, it is certainly a serious...
I always thought that flattening would make the file larger. I don't recall or have one to test but when I save down to lower ai/eps files they become unmanageable in size. Usually the original version with effects left intact seem smaller. But to make the file interoperable between programs you...
Shapes need to be combined. Sometimes Illustrator gets all wonky and you have to uncombine and then re-combine. On the mac, the shortcut to combine is command 8
Yeah the part that triggered my mind on this one was the name "eco". It made me think of ecomagination which is a phrased coined by GE. Thus I remembered that they use this unique font in all of their advertising/tv spots. The font sites won't ID this one because it is not able to be purchased
Actually this font is GE Inspira, a font developed for General Electric. It is not commercially available and can only be downloaded by GE employees and contractors who do design for them. Probably downloaded from a pirate site
True it does work in a pinch but I wanted to caution people into thinking that it was always an ok solution. I received a file once that had 50+ shapes with gradients saved down to v3. Needless to say it was a mess in outline view
Don't save files with gradients to version 3. Gradients are not supported in v3 files so a nice smooth gradient gets converted to 100s of individual boxes in successive colors to attempt to match the gradient. I save all my ai/eps files with gradients to v8, but not any lower
I was thinking of all caps script with a rainbow fill and a metal treadplate background. All letters would have a pillow emboss, glow, drop shadow and something sparkly somewhere
Thanks for the tips, pretty much as I expected. As for the amount of wording that part has pretty much been decided already. It has 2 bible verses. I am not up to debate with them how much is needed on the sign, but rather to work with what I have been given
I am doing a design for a billboard. 24 foot by 12 foot. The customer has basically given me the layout and they want it "improved". It is for a church
Any suggestions for minimum letter height, letter spacing etc and general do's and don'ts for a billboard for maximum readability? No need to...
