My response to customers that say "I can get it for_______________ (fill in the blank) Any time a competitor of mine is busy losing money, it's good for you and me, give him your job.
My CJV150 has that ink set-up. It's a two edged blade. Much better ability to match colors/considerably slower printing. Considering that we're not a mass production shop, the greater color gambit for us is a plus. Consider print speed vs better color matching before doing the switch.
Never check the on line big printers for printer costs, all their overhead costs vs your overhead costs are very different. Price a 4'x 8' banner at 365. do you want to match that price?
Forgetaboutit. They have a banner devoted printer that is probably wider than 8', you have to take the print...
Due to the volatility of material prices, this quote is correct today. Upon receipt of deposit, we will check current material prices and adjust the price of this project. Thank you for your understanding.
Sorry for the poor quality photo, I shot it in the evening while walking my dogs. Is it me or should there be a ton more kerning between the letters? I didn't get this job which is less than 1/2 mile from my house. is it sour grapes or bad layout?
OK, we've had a few bumps with availability of materials, but nothing really bad till now. We use Matthews acrylic polyurethane as our standard background paint. We also paint all our letters with it. I got a project today that required three gallons of paint to mix a particular color. I...
I tend to agree with kcollinsdesign. As long as you know up front you have to count your fingers after each meeting to be sure you still have 10, what's the harm in supplying this man with signs? You know the laws, don't break any. Get a sizeable deposit. Do the work.
I interviewed someone one time who had good solid credentials and a portfolio that looked promising. He was familiar with several software programs we use. I offered him the job and asked when he could start. he told me he had (can't remember now) x number of weeks of unemployment left that he...
Let's not forget the ultra light swirly scripts that are OK for business cards but won't work for signs. A photographer gave me a file "just print it, its all ready to go" it was extremely light script and what was supposed to be black was
not a saturated black. I explained that to her but no...
You have two materials with different expansion and contraction coefficients. You'll need to use an adhesive that will expand & contract, Lexel is a good one. I'd use a few #16 or 18 gauge brads with a finishing head also. Set the heads beneath the surface and fill, you will not have a problem.
We use West System, available from any marine supply. The 2 part system uses one resin and fast, medium or slow activator, works great. there are also additives to thicken the mix. I mix it to the consistency of Vaseline and use it to fill voids. Great stuff.
Years ago There was a guy opening a David's cookies. We did a bunch of neon for the interior of his store. He asked me to quote a show card for his grand opening "Hot buttered bagels & coffee" When I told him the price he said no, there's a guy that stopped by who will do it MUCH cheaper. The...
In the 80s my 1000sf shop was heated by a coal stove, tend it twice a day and many winter days we had windows open, Ct. Now I have two gas fired unit heaters in 3000sf, they've been doing the job since 1985. About 70 day 60 evening.
