  1. Discussion How do you handle this type of deal?

I do this with my snow plow guy...kinda. I owed him $140 for snow removal and $50 to rent his shop out, he owed me $200 for hoodies. He gave me $20, I owe him lunch. I give him Christmas cookies, homemade lip balm and canned pickles. He shovels my stoop for me and fills up my salt bin.
  2. Texans may not want to print today....

That's a good point. When it gets this cold, around zero or less we always kick the heat up a couple degrees and don't touch it. If you turn it down at night, like many of us normally do, it takes longer to heat up and at these temps it might not get warmed up again.
  3. Texans may not want to print today....

Having no heat at zero is very dangerous. I did hear of a few people dying. That is so very sad and scary. I'm glad you have heat AND a backup generator! Stay warm and safe!
  4. Texans may not want to print today....

Well? What's going on down there? Have you had to resort to the terracotta heater? What about the rest of you? Not much happening by me in Wisconsin, 5 degrees and 1-2" of snow. A couple people on my screen printing site are concerned for their ink as it's only 2 degrees and they have no heat.
  5. Install Checklist

Do you know if it freezes? Would be good to have one in my van but my garage is not heated.
  6. Install Checklist

In my shop because I don't have a gun. Shoots 22 feet.
  7. New Profit Center For Your Sign Shop

For quantities under 15 I did mostly HTV but I ordered out a ton of screen print transfers and just press them myself. The problem comes in when you have 3+ colors vs. quantity was a losing deal for me because of the transfer costs. If you have one or two color and like 24-100+ to make, just...
  8. Texans may not want to print today....

Especially after seeing all the pile ups the last few days, staying home because of ice seems like a smart idea!
  9. Question Doing Profit/Loss sheet on every job?

One woman shop here. I have a paper form for each job. I don't always fill it out for small jobs but for most I do. It has PO numbers, vinyl colors, time spent, etc. so I just take a pic and save in OneDrive when I'm done. Since the small jobs are time suckers, they are almost more important to...
  10. Install Checklist

I tried that too. I'm a smaller scale shop so most of my supplies fit into a carry-all tote. I have all my install tools in it and my spray bottles of chemicals, heat gun and a pair of gloves. After an install I leave it sit on the counter and when I have time I refill the bottles and anything...
  11. Texans may not want to print today....

I was thinking of you this morning while watching the news! I was hoping we would hear from you to make sure you are not buried in ice and snow yet! Stay safe down there!
  12. Be safe out there....

Speaking of snow, I have to go shovel now. Have a good weekend everyone, stay safe!
  13. Be safe out there....

My son goes to UNOH in Ohio and they shut down 2-3 days for a couple inches of snow. He went out driving around and someone almost hit him. I told him it's not like in Wisconsin where most people are used to driving in snow, he must be extremely watchful! No matter how experienced you are, ice...
  14. Stress

The other thing I get is customers that just HAVE to stop by and go over their stupid job or that always want you to stop by to take a look at something that they are thinking of doing. If it's a phone call or email and they are looking for rough estimate or ideas, I tell them, "Let's start...
  15. Be safe out there....

Super scary watching those videos. I think holding off on installs is a good idea. Better safe than sorry.
  16. Stress

Two things stick out to me. 1. Deadlines - I do operate very good under stress and often it's my best work but I could improve. With being one person a few customers in a day can eat up an entire afternoon of work. That is a big problem some days. 2. My son being home alone if I work early or...
  17. Buying New or Used

For me, it comes down to how handy am I or those around me to fix or troubleshoot if I buy used. In 2016, my Dad talked me into buying a new vehicle vs a used one. I'm glad I did as no problems in the last 5 years at all...problems that I would not be able to fix or afford to have fixed. The...
  18. Yo.... Signage

My curiosity kicked in. It appears that Tex believes the minimum wage should be raised to $15 and Signage does not. Does the disliking spill over into other categories as well?
  19. News Warning for everybody in this forum

One of my best friends is a single guy and always wants me to hook him up with my friends...perhaps I should suggest a mail order bride! Based on these two stories the success rate is better than American marriages! LOL
