  2. basic sign proficiency

my dad is in construction, and though I don't agree with his interview process it does make sense... He hands the guy a shovel and says dig. You know what, not everyone can use a shovel proficiently. Give them something to weed during the interview....

I'm looking into it right now...
  4. "The Customer is Always Right"

"The Customer is Always Right" is not part of the design/layout process... It's a business principle. What I do in situations like this depends on what my bank account looks like, right now I would take the cash and spend it on something stupid, like a new sock monkey onesie that fits better...
  5. Committees...

I bill for my design and every change, so the only thing frustrating about committees are the constant changes... come invoice time, and when I get paid, I'm reminded why I deal with them. One way for a committees to know how ineffective they are is billing them for every change and presentation.

  8. Someone stole my design

:goodpost: Thats probably half hour max. Probably take longer to look up the code and/or get the sign program than it would be to lay it out. Not sure I would ask for a deposit on that quickie stuff but I generally do ask for deposits. I try to qualify a client before doing anything. On a...

  13. Retroreflective vinyl recommendations

I would refer to SIGNAGE's posts... but, what type of sign is this going to be? Some signs requiring retroreflective vinyl have to meet or exceed ATSM standards.

  18. 1st post, 1st Logo

Mastering Layout is a good layout book, but ummmm, everyone I talked to (who has design experience) has a hard time following it... it is a crappy book for logo design... First thing I would do is learn the design process (wikipedia has a version of it) Do some research like google "blue room...
  19. First real sign

I was going to draw something up but no need, this is what I'm talking about!!! Nice!
  20. The cost of signs

I do architectural signage all over the country and I see little difference in costs on those signs. The differences I see is how sign shops want to build them. I have not done much in small towns in the middle of nowhere.
