  1. Flexi/Vista Rip/Print Issue

With 8.5, you may be able to get Flexi updates that will fix your issue. Many people run 8.5 on Vista without any trouble.
  2. Bare Drives... the new floppy

    Gotcha!
  3. Bare Drives... the new floppy

eSATA shouldn't be slow. Should be same speed as internal SATA. Love the ghetto eSATA!
  4. Bare Drives... the new floppy

Use eSATA if your computer has it... much faster than USB (like Jiarby said).
  5. Remote Desktop/VNC

Remote desktop requires some configuration at the router (if you have one). Basically, just forwarding of port 3389. Also your "host" computer needs to be XP Pro (or above - ie Vista or Windows 7). If you use SBS 2003 or 2008, you can use the Remote Web Workplace to do the same thing. I like...
  6. Flexi/Vista Rip/Print Issue

Well you could "downgrade" to XP. Also, you can try "compatibility mode" for XP SP2. I have never tried this with Flexi. I have no idea if it will help at all. I disagree with you assesment of Vista, but that is just my opinion. Regardless of Vista being better or worse, the "software...
  7. Whoa!!! e-mail Graphtec about 64 bit driver support and just see what happens!

My thoughts exactly. To me, Windows 7 seems like an improved Vista. I like most of the changes, but it is not a total rewrite of code. It is very much like Vista. I love to see folks embracing Windows 7. It is odd to see the same folks that HATE Vista, love Windows 7 though. All I can...
  8. Flexi/Vista Rip/Print Issue

You could try compatibility mode for XP SP2, but I think that 8.5 is Vista compatible.
  9. Mutoh pauses during printing

What RIP software are you using?
  10. computer running slow

Oh, I wasn't doubting that it was fast enough to run your software... My thinking is that modern antivirus programs are getting to be resource hogs. Computers that were once speedy, may be sluggish as time goes on, even if nothing has changed other than keeping your security software up-to-date.
  11. computer running slow

What are your system specs? CPU: RAM: Hard Drive Space (Total): Hard Drive Space (Available): You may just be reaching the limit of your hardware's performance capabilities. There are other possibilities (of course), but this seems to be a plausible one.
  12. XP Registry Edit Tools

    Exactly!
  13. XP Registry Edit Tools

I have seen WAY too many computers screwed up MORE after a registry "repair", "tweak", or "cleanup". Shovel, I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot Ethernet cable! Be careful unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing....
  14. Alternate OS on a diagnostic machine

You may be able to... if it is an "Operating System" disk and not a "Recovery Disk".
  15. Alternate OS on a diagnostic machine

Google "Bart PE" and you should be able to find enough info to get you going.
  16. Alternate OS on a diagnostic machine

You sure can... You can build it on any computer with an Internet connection and a cd/DVD burner.
  17. Alternate OS on a diagnostic machine

Every situation is different. Bart PE does boot from the existing hardware, so if the infected computer stinks, then Bart PE may not run well. So in that instance, if I really had to access the HD from outside the original Windows installation (which is not always the case), I may remove the...
  18. Alternate OS on a diagnostic machine

With Bart PE, you don't have to remove the HD.
  19. Alternate OS on a diagnostic machine

They are both Linux... Ubuntu is just a very popular version of Linux. I personally don't use Linux to troubleshoot, I just boot to a "Bart PE" disk. You can use Google to find a the most recent versions. You just boot from a CD (containing a stripped down version of Windows), similar to...
  20. Whoa!!! e-mail Graphtec about 64 bit driver support and just see what happens!

You would boot into 64 and then open a "virtual computer" which is inside a window. It is pretty slick if you can get it to work. The 32 Bit OS would run entirely in a virtual environment and you would access it just like any other windows application. Like I said, you could run into snags...
