  1. Laminating

ahhh. yes. i always need to be careful about it. any shift in the position of the BS relative to the item being installed will create bubbles. surprisingly, you can still move the whole thing around without making any bubbles. all in all, if everything goes well, all you'd end up with is just a...
  2. sp540v head and color help

after clearing the pump lines, did you do your cleaning cycles again? personally, i would pull ink from the pump lines using a syringe to see if the seals are good. if you see ink in your syringe, it's good. kelly
  3. Cleaning Solution ?

so far, it's the most scientifically based idea that we can work with. i have some heads with a few bad nozzles. i think i'll try it with them if i can get a hold of some butyl carbitol. but the thing is, i don't know exactly know where i can get my hands on some butyl carbitol around here -...
  4. Laminating

i dunno about automatic laminators. but this happens every single time with Big Squeegee's - since we stop and start after every arm's length of pushing. in our case, it's just silvering and will go away in a day or so. unless you trapped actual bubbles in it. kelly
  5. Cleaning Solution ?

artbot, do you think that butyl carbitol injected into the head would allow us to safely store used heads [DX4]? i've been asking about this before, and nobody seems to have any idea about it. kelly
  6. Computer gurus - attack!

the funny thing is... if i was an identity or credit card thief. i personally would attack the 5% totally unprotected Mac's like this fella, rather than the 80% or so windows users who have pretty much learned how to deal with viruses on a day to day basis. Windows pc's are great for organizing...
  7. Big Squeegee - laminate produces "micro bubbles"

like most of you posted, i was very happy to say that most of the "micro bubbles" i mentioned were actually silvering - and is in fact, a normal occurrence with the BS. i still had a few obvious bubbles a day after, but after hearing about gabagoo's experience - i expect this to disappear...
  8. Big Squeegee - laminate produces "micro bubbles"

really? with all the talk about outgasing, i kinda assumed that vinyl was simply air tight. thanks for that info. admittedly, i'm guilty of the one hand pushing and one hand wrestling with other stuff scenario. i'll try to organize my work area in order to try to improve on my application. i...
  9. Big Squeegee - laminate produces "micro bubbles"

anybody know why it goes away?
  10. Big Squeegee - laminate produces "micro bubbles"

thanks all for the BS tips. i've heard about silvering lotsa times - and even read dave's note about it being normal. but since i've always wet applied all my laminations, i didn't really know what it looked like. hehe. now, i kinda feel dumb. don't you just love these instances when you're...
  11. Big Squeegee - laminate produces "micro bubbles"

thanks jack! that was exactly what i was hoping for. tho i was wondering about your hand squeegee step. i noticed that when i hand squeegee it right after running it through the BS, it had a tendency to produce a few very small bubbles. have you encountered that scenario? or will it go away...
  12. Big Squeegee - laminate produces "micro bubbles"

here's a pic of my matte lamination. please forgive the quality of the print and the picture. you'd notice that the lower half is a bit better than the upper half. i manually squeegee'd the lower half to get that result. if i were to do my usual wet install on my lamination here, there will...
  13. Big Squeegee - laminate produces "micro bubbles"

doesn't silvering look like tiny hairs trapped inside? or does it apply to general area discolorations as well? i'm talking about the whole laminated area having these "micro bubbles."
  14. Big Squeegee - laminate produces "micro bubbles"

hi all! i recently purchased a few big squeegee products, and had good results installing vinyl. but when i tried using the BS to matte laminate my prints - i noticed that there seemed to be "micro bubbles" sandwiched between my lamination film and print [in all areas]. let me make it clear...
  15. White Spots in Print

personally, i don't think your machine nor your media has anything to do with your problem - since it happens so randomly. my first guess would have been fish eyes. but since you ruled that out, the only other source i can think of is dust getting onto the media - getting printed on - and then...
  16. Falcon Outdoor Print Head Problems

i hope you could update us on how things go. i tried to ultrasonic clean my print head using a basic cleaner before, and i got the same results you are now experiencing. i figured that my ultrasonic cleaner splashed some cleaning solution onto my head circuitry, and ruined them. i replaced them...
  17. Mutoh Falcon Jr

were your heads replaced by a technician? meaning - did you get perfect test prints at least right after they were installed? kelly
  18. sp300v problem with brand new heads

it could also be due to problematic cables. but my gut tells me that you're right about the board being at fault. try searching the forum for fixing busted fuses. if you're lucky, that's all that you need to have replaced. kelly
  19. post heating the last foot of print?

ahh. the problem isn't about the media running out. it's about the print stopping, and not automatically pushing paper out in a consistent and regular interval anymore. this is exactly what i've been doing so far. but i'm a bit worried on how under-heating/ over-heating would affect my prints...
  20. post heating the last foot of print?

hi all! i was just wondering how you guys apply post heat to the last part of your prints. since the vinyl would stop moving forward once the print stops, how do you get the last part [1 ft or so] to move through the length of the dryer? i have a separate dryer from benes for my SC-540, and...
