  1. Possible heads stuck open on Mutoh Falcon Outdoor

egad! please pull the plug on your machine asap, and try to check the head circuitry for ink drips and reseat the cables. i don't have a mutoh. but that looks too much like an electrical short on the heads. once, i saw my roland do something like that. and by the time i pulled the plug on my...
  2. Hey Betsy from 3M!

what do you think would be a good alternative? almost all the wraps i hear like using the 180 cv3 along with 8518 overlams. kelly
  3. Hey Betsy from 3M!

i wonder what's worse... what avery did, or what 3M is trying to do now? kelly
  4. Laptop running incredibly slow

pls. have it checked by a techie person, or an actual pc tech. a lot of things can contribute to a pc slowing down. but with that said, i personally simply refuse to accept the idea that a pc using the exact same software can't run at the same speed it was running on when you first bought it...
  5. ink spots while printing

btw, just for explanation's sake. the fiber catches the ink, collects it, and then plops it in when it's heavy enough.
  6. ink spots while printing

a single fiber will cause the random spots. especially with banners, you really can't guarantee that your head will be fiber free 100% of the time. manual cleaning will definitely help, along with scheduled auto cleans. but at the end of the day, you can only do so much. kelly
  7. video card

anything other than an entry level video card will require branded power supplies. around 500watts should be safe. also, make sure you check that your new ps has the right native connectors.
  8. AMD vs Intel

you seem like a person who likes technical details. well, i personally go to www.anandtech.com for in depth benchmarks, architecture breakdown and analysis. you'd have to spend quite a bit of hours [or even days] tho looking at each family of processors and finally deciding on what you actually...
  9. Plotter Blade Angle

thanks for explaining it, mike. i've always wanted to know the explanation behind the blade guides. kelly
  10. XC-540 periodic stopping

assuming you've followed the other suggestions which were earlier posted, what i'd do is send a constant ping towards my machine. this will tell me if there is a break in the connection at any point in time. the way to do this is to go to "run" [or press the windows key and R at the same time]...
  11. ink usage question

a nicely rich black will always use a certain amount of all colors. [which is set up during the creation of your profile] blacks that are only made up of 100k and nothing else will look really flat and dull. kelly
  12. Can I change my 6 color mutoh to 4 color

i don't know about mutoh's. but the newer roland printers have options in their settings that allow it to run under different ink configurations. cmyk included. my old SC-540 didn't have this option. but like smdgrfx said, the software option provided by flexi allows me to still do cmyk prints...
  13. A flatbed printer in every garage!

i hear that a local roland SC-540 owner feeds sintra boards onto his machine. and that it actually works. the only downside is that he is said to go through his pinch rollers just about one set every month. me, i just don't have the balls to do it. simply far too many things could go wrong....
  14. sp300-v

this happened to my SC-540. network board got fried after lightning hit a nearby tree. the ground or some residual shock found its way through my router [probably through my dsl modem], and silently fried the network cards of all equipment connected to said router. pc network board/printer...
  15. Problems with left head

i see overspray on the black. that usually tells me that either (1) there's a clog somewhere, (2) head is having electrical problems [maybe due to age] or (3) the ink isn't compatible with the head or just a bad batch. [too dense]
  16. What every Epson GS6000 Owner Should Know

ahhh. this happens to my roland SC-540 and Versaworks all the time. :) i think it's a RIP thing for the most part.
  17. accidentally selected "pump up" on versacamm

why do they even have that option? i'm sure glad i never experimented with it. :( drat. for some reason, i can't remember why i stopped doing it. but i faintly recall that it was a pretty interesting feeling.
  18. SP-540V Banding - Help pls

you don't seem like the "techie" type of guy. so, for now, i'll just suggest that you increase your resolution/passes. this will effectively minimize the banding. this won't really fix your nozzle dropout issues. but at least you will have a half-decent output to give to your client while you...
  19. Does your artwork fee mean you hand ownership to customer?

i think that this is very similar to software programmers/consultants and the software they provide their clients. in their case, it has to be clearly stated [in writing] beforehand who owns the software that the programmer produces. either the client buys the rights or is just being provided a...
  20. Contour cut and VDP (VersaWorks)

hi phil! i can't seem to find the feature that combines several pdf pages into one. can you please explain it a bit further? thanks!
