  1. SC-540 weird nozzle test failure

yep. i aligned the heads as well already. the first few weeks worth of nightmares after getting the machine were caused by an unaligned carriage. which as you would expect, dried out my heads every single day. hehe. i now regularly check for a vacuum by testing the heads one by one using a...
  2. SC-540 weird nozzle test failure

ahhh.. i knew somebody would point that out. my pic is the one mainly at fault there. in reality, the only one with really bad deflections is my black head. the cyan is almost perfect, magenta has a few as well tho. [5-8] i have actually replaced all my head caps already. it hasn't improved...
  3. SC-540 weird nozzle test failure

actually, i have damaged a head before by suctioning too hard. that's why i haven't been doing that lately. and if ever i do, i make it a point to be very very gentle. to answer your question... no, i didn't flush the head recently. the last time i flushed this head was about 3 months ago...
  4. Storing used DX4 heads

thanks! that actually makes a lot of sense. well, better than how i used to inject eco-solvent cleaning solutions. :thankyou:
  5. Storing used DX4 heads

that's exactly what bugs me. i'm pretty sure it's possible. i was thinking maybe it's bec we don't have the right "storage fluid" of sorts. i noticed that our new heads come with some sort of fluid inside of them. or that we just aren't handling them the right way....
  6. Storing used DX4 heads

a very basic question here. how do you properly store a used DX4 head? is it enough for us to just pack it away after flushing it with cleaning fluid? *the scenario would be when you successfully unclogged an old head after soaking it forever. :P thanks in advance!:thankyou:
  7. SC-540 weird nozzle test failure

ahh. so, there is basically no danger of the head getting physically corroded or physically damaged by the cleaner chemicals themselves. if i understand you correctly, the primary danger is with the chemicals reacting with the ink causing coagulation. thus destroying the head. this, which can...
  8. SC-540 weird nozzle test failure

artbot, just the guy i was hoping to chime in... here's a follow up question just for you. since you did mention soaking and using cleaning fluids: are all cleaning fluids the same? i mean the distributors around here are selling cleaning solutions like it was a generic thing [some are even...
  9. SC-540 weird nozzle test failure

hi all, i have an sc-540 with a really weird nozzle test for black. the first pass it prints is consistently fine. while the second pass would have nozzle drop outs. i have attached a few nozzle test for you to see for yourself. the head in is only a few months old. no head strikes yet. i...
  10. DIY Solvent Print Drying Bucket

i personally think that aside from outgassing, the more important effect of letting your vinyl's cure is so that you could allow your vinyl to contract as much as it needs to.
  11. 160sp ... how to slow down carriage speed

why do i have the sinking feeling that some nitwit might actually just contemplate doing what you suggested... just because you were the one who said it. :help of course, not artbot. that would just be silly. hehe.
  12. Roland Printer... Where's my Ink ????

really freaky. this would usually happen with one ore two inks. but rarely 3 out of the 4 colors at one time. but like what DSD says, check the head surface, and capping stations first. that might give you some clues. and no. sorry, roland won't be returning any of your inks. :D
  13. No Print days

hi. could you clarify what particular benefits it would provide on top of what the automatic cleanings would do? for about a month, i tried printing these bands every morning before, and i just didn't see additional benefit it would have given once i started my daily or auto cleaning routine...
  14. No Print days

Colin, one thing i can say about the daily routine tho.. is that printing solid bands would definitely help keep the nozzles that work - wet. since this would prevent ink from drying. but the problem would be the nozzles that are actually clogged for one reason or another. from my experience...
  15. No Print days

john1, could you by any chance tell me how you set the 8 hour clean cycle thing? i have an SC-540, and i'm not entirely sure it wakes up the way it is supposed to. when i power it up [the one in front-the back switch stays on everytime], it goes automatically into a cleaning cycle when it hasn't...
  16. Check this out...

lolz. a great way to start the year off. thanks!
  17. how big are your sheets when layering vinyls?

since this is my first time at it... i was hoping that some of the folks here could share what they are used to working with. thanks.
  18. how big are your sheets when layering vinyls?

hi all! i have been doing a bit of printing for the past year, but now, i have a friend who wants me to make a set of 2 layer car decals for him. 100pcs of 14" x 4" decals using oracal all the way. now, my question is, from your experience, what is the ideal size of each sheet when you...
  19. 1204 Head Fuse keeps blowing

there is obviously a short. you could check if the cables are ok and are properly seated, and make sure that the electronics of the head doesn't have any ink drips.
  20. Oh man, banner scam again

ahh.. thanks Adtechia LLC. the scams sure have improved a lot since the time of: "you just won/have claims to $10,XXX,XXX.00 in order to process, please provide your identity details and send money to ____ in order to process the release." it's like.. credit card fraud just leveled up a few...
