  1. Summa DC5sx vs. Gerber Edge 2 or FX - Struggling with this one....

Stay away from DC3. To replace our 20 years old Edge 2 with one dead pixel, we paid $2,500 for a good working Edge 2 from e-bay. Currently there is one listed for $3,250. You can also check with three equipment guys for parts.
  2. flatbed cutter vs. router

You are correct. The name is Flatbed Cutter, not Router. We just got delivered one and installing tomorrow with swivel and tangential knife tools. For additional $10,000, there is a router tool attachment that can "cut" PVC, aluminum board.
  3. Summa Y Axis Error, PLEASE HELP

Better tech support here than Summa is willing to offer!! Wondering why the tech support will not offer these diagnosis steps. I hope it is not for profit motivation. It is so easy to say "bring the plotter in", and not considering for the customer the down time, the logistic etc.
  4. ShopVox - frustration beyond imagination - no way to list labor as non-taxable.

Gino, I don't think Quickbook has the capacity OP was asking at all. Unless for example, a 4' x 8' MDO sign pricing, you list all part of Component to 1. MDO cost plus(T), 2. design cost(NT) 3. Ink cost +(T), 4. Printer depreciation (?) 5. Overhead(?)...etc. These are for the software to...
  5. Wrapped vehicles, do we need to report a color change to DMV?

We had a Ford Escape 10 years back, removed all emblems, replaced with Porsche logos & "Caveman" model. It is fun to have Valet parking write it as a Porsche Caveman. Few sharp guys caught it, we just had a good laugh: It is my poor man's Porsche!
  6. Can someone ID these braille signs and tell me how they are made/what they sell for?

From the picture, this UV printer are more like it, if you look Closer. The letters are "Rounder" or "Domed" shape, versus Photopolymer, which is flat at the top surface of the letters, but with beveled edges.
  7. New 5 Mil Grey Back Air Release!!

OK, that is one element. Easy to apply. for cheap temporary, short term. for it's claimed 3 to 5 years, less shrinkage? won't turn brown? weather better than 3M IJ35? I like to be able to compare apple to apple.
  8. New 5 Mil Grey Back Air Release!!

Define thicker is better? We all know that thinner is better, as in cast, 2m vinyl.
  9. Need advice for a new laser cut machine

We have a Trotec Speedy 400. Tech support is not satisfactory. Even under warranty, we have to pay technician travel time to come. Was told that is the industry standard practice. They did us a "favor" by splitting 4 ways of the travel expenses, $240 as they have 4 machines to service. That...
  10. HP Latex 310 questions

Wasatch upgrade from 6.7 to 7.2 is $900. HP 310-360 driver only come with 7.2.
  11. Is gerber going away

I believe that was a Cadlink plug-in board, that allow PC user to drive Gerber plotter using Coreldraw, and that was how Cadlink started. I remember one Gerber Rep. stating the reason they won't allow open PC platform was "our PC is better than other PCs" on the hardware side. As on the...
  12. In search of new heat press

We have a Hotronic Swinger 16" x 20" heatpress. PM me for price if interested.
  13. Any FastSigns franchise owners?

A non-electrical sign installation contractor fabricates and installs all types of non-electrical signs This still says a non-electrical sign "installation contractor", "fabricates and installs"...... It does not say anyone makes or sells signs. As a retail outlet, such as Grainger, Home...
  14. Any FastSigns franchise owners?

Not True. You can sell all kinds of signs, worth any amount of dollars. Only installation will be involved with contractor license.
  15. yellow banner material for printing

We were printing black & red on Yellow banner material often with Mutoh. Blue came out muddy. Black is very black, and red is red. Just tried on 360 with the left over yellow banner roll, due to the heat, it wrinkled and cause smudge and head strike, as that roll of yellow banner is not made...
  16. Enjoying my new drone

Privacy is one concern. The other is like remote controlled cars, it is so cheap, every household could have one. Can you visual the airspace? In California, we had at least 3 incidences that fire fighting aircraft were grounded due to drone interference.
  17. Enjoying my new drone

If you and mrs. are lounging at backyard pool, is it alright for someone to video you?
  18. ADA Question.................................

Ha, ha, that's a good one. Accessible is wheelchair accessible. Which an "wheelchair" symbol is indicated. For restroom facilities, a bunch of other requirements need to be satisfied. Raised text & Braille are for visually impaired persons, who may not be wheelchair bound. Simply need to...
  19. ADA Question.................................

I was taught that 90% of ADA sign are no for blind persons, rather "legally blind" persons, thus the contrast/color requirement. However, the blind person are taught to find the sign at the "specific locations", at the wall next to open side of a door, 60" above ground. I don't see the reason...
