That's what we did. Copy them from their HD to ours. I suspect this client who actually got the files from a third party designer was probably not nice to them either and now they're not willing to provide the files again.

X8 is out. And will allow upgrade from any version. You can't buy the upgrade version of X7, won't work from X3. You'd have to by the full vesrion. I have X8 at home and it works great....then again I haven't jumped to win10 yet.

Can't you just print your own vinyl? We find a pantone that's as close as possible then tweak the color values as necessary. Very hard to match paint swatches/chips though.

We do wraps all the time. Never use templates. Way too many variances with body moldings and such. We require that the vehicle be brought to us for a complete survey. We take photos and several measurements and design to full scale.
Possible the pdf's aren't made correctly. There area lot of settings that need to be set correctly to be be print ready. We've had to revert to using photoshop to open problem pdf's then flatten and save as a hi-res tif.
