  1. A new career?

Well, I can understand Michigan being in decline for your profession. The Big 3 being on hard times. Do you consider sign vinyl/making to be a career, a trade, an art form? I guess all of the above. I'd caution about the psuedo partnership with the audio/window-tint friend. What is the back-up...
  2. pricing anyone?

5 x 3 inch seems large for a motorcycle. Let's say business card size -would still be the same price. Are you printing or cut vinyl? Cut vinyl at that small size would be..challenging. $1.50 for a printed, spray lam decal, min 100 pcs. Suggest to the dealer that for a dollar-fifty, his name is...
  3. When to wet

How do you NOT get bubbles applying dry on glass? I have never had any luck with that. Thanks. Ken
  4. When to wet

I like using a wet app on glass. But also works on a glossy paint job. Ken
  5. Help...I'm a dummy

When you left- double clik on the safely remove harware icon, it offers some options..have you tried that? Ken
  6. first time vinyl wet application problem

No, you should be able to wet-apply to most(smooth, preferably glossy) surfaces. Do yourself a favour and get some Rapidtac. The preparation of the surface is paramount. Any oily, dusty surface, silicone ( as in latex paint) will be impossible to apply vinyl to. Room temperature is ideal. I...

  9. Does your sign company have a website?

Thanks to Fred or whoever actually took the time to post the voting section to the top of this thread. It seems that most signshops/designers do have a website ( darn near 80 percent) So, I guess I better get with it... I'll let you know when I'm up and running with it. Thanks to all who...
  10. 300 to 540

Thanks for that Bobby. We don't always see the other side of the trade. Do you have an opinion on what the best turnover (trade/sell) timeline is? Lots of variables, of course, just like to hear your thought on this. There was an article in the SignCraft pricing guide that suggested you...
  11. Hi All!

Welcome from Beautiful BC. You should get on well with the many musicians here. It's about time for an S101 Band? Ken
  12. Does your sign company have a website?

Interesting to know that ,of those that have a website: Has it generated any business? Has it been viewed at all? How have you made your web presence known? All comments welcome... Thanks...Ken

  16. 300 to 540

Same boat. I was offered about 5K for my 1 1/2 yr machine towards a 540. I dunno, maybe I should have gone for that , these machines do depreciate fairly quickly. Seemed like a kick in the teeth to lose 2/3 value after a year and a half. Our tax depreciation rules allow me to write down 30...
  17. Ram issue??????

This is from Windows help file: To change the size of the virtual memory paging file You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might also prevent...
  18. Ram issue??????

Yep, Spiderman is giving good advice here. You may also want to check your virtual ram and see how much of that is allocated. With a full hard drive there may not be enough room left for the virtual memory. If your virtual ram is set at 10 percent of the total HD space then you're still again...
  19. What the font?

Gee, it just looks like Times New Roman to me. Ken
