  2. What fonts do you use?

I always wonder what fonts people use, from home users to car companies and every other type of business in between. I am a graphic artist with a strong typography background (I worked at a typesetting business for 12 years). We had Linotype fonts (4 different libraries), Berthold Fonts...

  6. anyone using a pen tablet?

I have an old Artz II from wacom 9 x 12 and it is too big, but I use the digitizer and pen. I have used a little cheapie one at a label company and I liked it very much. For them to be useful you have to throw your mouse away and just plain use it for a month, before you get used to them. I...
  7. Formata

Phils fonts sells BE and BQ Formata for a pretty decent price, 9 fonts between 225 and 275.
  8. Formata

Formata, comes in 2 flavors, BE (Adobe) and BQ (Berthold) Go with the BQ, it is far better. Berthold Types is very expensive. Berthold Types are not nice to deal with, and you cannot by the EULA use your customers font. As a matter of pragmatism, what you can do is get the fonts from the client...
  9. photoshop

Honestly, training videos are kind of a waste, unless you know what you want to do, then they can give you some clues, but the truth is this, Photoshop is so enormous, that no one can give a cookie cutter approach. 11. Drum Scanner.. any one uses it?

Yeah, Screen 1030ai from the 90's. Great detail, you need photoshop to enhance the color, but the detail is deep.

  13. Rodi

Comment by 'Rodi' in media 'UGLY CAR LETTERING'

Back in the 80's there was a type house in LA thats name began with a Z and they had a moving type specimen, the car had tons of Z's all over it with I guess all their fonts, it was cool, as opposed to this.

  15. Hi, I look forward to learning

Hi and thanks, I did not read where Graphtec changed their lineup, Jackpine, you got a link? I am an information junkie! I have not yet jumped, but generally I wait and wait and save some money and buy the best of what I can, my old G3 is great still (300mhz!). I don't make a living using these...
  16. Hi, I look forward to learning

Hi, I am interested in Vinyl (LPs too!) I am trying to figure a few things out, software wise to the hardware. I will be starting out as a hobbyist, probably a 15" - 30" cutter. My first question is this, do I need more than Illustrator to run a cutter? I have years on Illustrator, from a print...
