Was the motherboard damaged by an 'over the weekend' power surge? If so, get an APC UPS backup/surge protector and put it on right away. We have one of these on every computer and printer. That company must love us... ;)

Netsol, not sure about your particular model but my Roland has a clearly marked opening for the place to insert the media clamp. (see attached pic), it's right behind the front heater platen. The clamp then slides back and forth on the rail.

I'm not sure how much experience you have fixing that type of printer but be careful that the damage you do does not exceed the cost of a proper service call. If a tech came in and worked on it and you observed him, that might be the training you need for future fixes. One wrong move can cost...

Do you also contour cut on the machine? If not the Roland VersaEXPRESS RF-640 seems like a pretty nice machine, reasonably priced to. I used to have its sister model the VersaArt.

How old is the machine? Are you doing your regular cleanings with the swabs and cleaning solution? You need to clean around the cap tops and the wipers at least once a month. We change ours based on how our test prints look.
