  1. out gassing solvent prints

Nope, it draws the air right down through the top. (fan is mounted to pull air downwards) We've had "rolls" on every peg on there at times. As far as whole rolls, I think 6 is about the max, but you normally do not print 6 or full (or almost full) rolls in a day. Normally, you'll have 3-4 full...
  2. Heat Settings for printing on 3m IJ680 Comply

That is ultimately going to be your best bet if the printer is new to you. You're also going to have to test your pass#, bi- versus uni-directional for the material, etc, etc. Reflective can be a bit finnicky to get to print well on certain printers.
  3. out gassing solvent prints

Here ya go! Standard cheapo box fan at the bottom with a rolling vinyl rack used for the bottom to hold the rolls upright over that. Otherwise it's just standard Home Depot stuff.
  4. Cutting lines on a traction fed plotter

You said it yourself, you're never going to get the accuracy of a sprocket-fed plotter out of a friction-fed plotter. Either buy another or job this type of a job out. We have 3 friction-fed plotters here and 2 sprocket-fed plotters. Everyone here knows the difference and what to expect of each...
  5. out gassing solvent prints

We built a "suck box" with a fan at the bottom providing a downdraft for the rolls in it. It works great, never had a roll that was printed the day before not be ready for lamination the next day since we've started using it. You just have to remember to unwind/loosen the roll so the air has a...
  6. Prints are stepping left and right on prints larger than ~46"

If it wont even read the whole correct width of the encoder strip, then the problem points to machine failure, so at least you should be able to rule out software errors with wider files. Apparently, at 1500+mm SOMETHING gets out of whack. What is there that can go wrong? Cables? bad...
  7. Prints are stepping left and right on prints larger than ~46"

After you replaced the encoder strip, did you run tests like linear calibration, etc? (I've never replaced one on our mimakis, but have done a lot of rolands and that is always the next step to be sure it's happy with the new strip)
  8. Totally Free Trailer Template Anyone?

Glad it works for yall, Merry Christmas!
  9. Desire by Charles Borges

It does look quite slick... http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/charlesborges/desire/
  10. Totally Free Trailer Template Anyone?

I just drew this up today (completely from scratch), so it is 100% original. It is just one of the hundreds that I've drawn for proofing purposes. (this is a Titan trailer) I feel like sharing it, and am asking nothing in return. It was set up at 1/20 scale, the elements should be easy enough...
  11. A couple fonts I can't figure out...

I knew I had seen the capital A before, I think there's even a closer font than that one, but I juzst redew it, the charactors were actually pretty simple shapes once you got the curves on the "o" created and the slant set up. I used "Rapier" for the script.
  12. A couple fonts I can't figure out...

    thanks, re-created it!
  13. Nothing crazy

Looks GREAT for a speed shop!
  14. Laminators

Check out the new GFPs with swing-arm loading, heat assist & take-up reels, they're the winner in my opinion, and the price is just right.
  15. A couple fonts I can't figure out...

If yall could help, I'd surely appreciate it!
  16. Brushed Aluminum staining

Wraps should also be waxed. We get a lot of customers with acid rain / jet fuel staining from being around the airport... :(
  17. provehicleoutlines, down?

Just went back and reloaded it after I posted the last reply, and it looks like it's back up already!
  18. provehicleoutlines, down?

I downloaded 3 templates from there yesterday without any trouble. I just went to the site now, and it is not responding. I would assume server/host trouble. Even the best websites out there have been attacked and gone down temporarily. The PVO site has a LOT of data on it (lots of files you...
  19. Averege $/hr for wrapper in the US

Around $20/hour for employees. Contractors are a whole different animal and are paid per job here, based upon their bids. I think most bid per sf around $3. Good hourly employee installers are getting VERY hard to find. Most good installers have gone on to be self-employed subcontractors...
  20. Drop shadow printing problem. Help!

Looks like those colors are outside the gamut range of your printer/rip. Try opening the file with PS and converting it to CMYK in PS using your color-management workflow that your shop normally uses. It should get those back within standard CMYK gamut or they'll show up then. If they show up at...
