It is almost 100% tolerance. We have the s80600 and I have never smelled anything ever. Had a lady come in here several months ago and she started complaining right away about the smell. Bothered the heck out of her but the gentleman that was with her did not smell a thing, just like me. I guess...
We have had this printer for two years and may have done 2 small print and cut jobs for myself. Would like to start offering some of this type of work but have no back ground in print and cut. A half day of onsite training or a little more would probably do it. Just need to get off on the right...
Tinnitus or not that fan was loud. The firmware came out several months ago and it was designed to turn the fan off in sleep mode and it works. There is another thread on this forum about the fan and it had a link which is where I got it from. My present firmware on my s80600 is SA)23N9,1.16,9000
I have different questions. Why would you accept someones product to do the subbing unless of course it is family. Profit structure should be on materials and labor. When you put someones materials in the mix it really messes things up. I have done it once or twice but we charge the markup on...
I have an s80600 that had the loud fan and it was awful. In Jan of this year Epson came out with a new firmware that silences the fan when the printer goes to sleep. Don't have the firmware number here but you will find it on Epson support and it does work.
We have 2 dye sub printers and 3 presses and keep our humidity above 50. (45% minimum) Our humidifier takes 5 gal. of water a day. I have an f570 as a backup and it gets used maybe once a month. I do a nozzle check at least once a week to move a little ink through it. It rarely needs a clean.
Green is under cooked. The ghosting could be the paper is not taped securely to the substrate. We change our polypoplin out after every two or three prints. Another trick is to prepress your metal with poly on top to wick out any moisture. Then when printing just use a white butcher paper on top...
At 73 I have my fair share of gray hair so know a little bit about risk management. If they would only make these things a little more affordable to repair. $175 an hour is just not going to happen. Looking for new sensors and those I can install myself.
Go to my post just above yours about the same fan noise. The link has been added for a firmware update that shuts the fan off when the unit is asleep.

That doesn't even closely match the version I just downloaded. It had a date of June. 2023.
Just went to the website and checked. The only firmware available for the s80600 is the SA11B.
Are you possibly outside the USA?
The word on the street was the new firmware SAO11B 1.16,9000 Firmware was supposed to silence the loud cooling fan, but is hasn't. Any one have this fan issue that the firmware has silenced it?
Known issue for ages. The new firmware is supposed to have fixed it but it has not worked and is still loud as ever. In sleep mode it is supposed to turn off but it doesn't.
Yes I ran my solvent covered swab over it and of course the solvent loosened the adhesive enough for it to fall off. I stuck it back on and it has stayed tight for about two weeks but I will either get another one or make one myself.
I stuck it back on with the adhesive that is on the edges. Pretty sure I know what happened and it was my fault. When I did the manual clean I may have brushed near that area and the solvent on the swab loosed/ dissolved the adhesive.
