This may be a totally separate thing but when you have the cover off over the heads- if you look at the mechanism that allows the head carriage to slide up and down
you will see a spring plate that is supposed to keep the carriage flat against the back of the larger carriage that it rides on...
This is what we use- 2 tripod adjustable stands with a walkway on top- this one I built (17 years ago) from an alum extension ladder taken apart and welded together with plywood deck- it is 10' long we have a commercial 14' one as well. The tripods I think were called Mustang. Gene

know of a good professional stencil font with nice heavy connectors that don't tend to rip out? We use Bren stencil material BTW-...
