I have to produce some decals on silver mylar. I told my client that I would print on clear and then laminate it to the mylar. I suppose thats the way it has to be done?
Is it worth trying to print directly on?
The advantage of vinyl cut over print. Feel your pain.
Done it many times and I am so tired of the ol "Lesson learned" .
Heck when do the classes ever finish? lol:banghead:
Don't get me wrong, the 3m tape is a good product, you just can't overlap it. For frosted vinyl it is the best for wet application and because it is so much thicker than conventional pre mask it allows the graphic to go down a little easier.
I just finished putting 3m white 220 on a wheelchair bus and unfortunately my roll was not wide enough and I just had to overlap it. I was well over 2" with overlap and that sucker fell apart while putting the graphic down over a ridge. Should have heard me swearing.
I peeled the mask off...
Decided to toss the piece as the old graphics were a knockout and the glue is everywhere.
Gonna just buy a 4x8 piece and yes the customer is a tight %$%#...but I am doing the work for a broker so, he can pay for the new plexi lol
I recently switched to 3m scpm-3 premask.
Yes it is thicker and is a little more forgiving on application,
but what I have found in the week I have used it is that when premasking and having to overlap premask on to itself, it really does not stick that well to itself and have had multiple...
Hi Scott, Thanks, I know but I Found a supplier in Waterloo so I check out the price tomorrow. What I really would like to find is a magnet that has a built in handle.
I did find this heavy duty magnet at Rona that is used to pull dents out of cars and metal but there like $30 each.
This is a regular client who orders many temp signs for construction jobs and I have never had payment issues. I am sure he will pay. I think he just got frustrated and called me the moment he threw the spray bomb at the wall lol
I have done this in the past using my edge, but the complaint is that the paint really builds up and the magnetic stencil falls apart. These ones I did are pretty big too. One is almost 48" x 48" . I found a company online that sells earth magnets so I will buya dozen or so and sell them to...
I made 3 stencils for a long time customer for his dumpsters. I had them routered out of aluminum and they looked great.
I told him I had done this before for other companies with happy results.
Now when we discussed this I told him the other company that had recently done this used heavy...
My dealer here in Canada now only sells 3M reflective with air egress. Now one might think thats really great but let me tell you it is an absolute nightmare for general vinyl cutting.
I have a customer that orders 3" reflective numbers and generally orders 0-9 x 200 or so. With the old...
vinyl zapper gets my vote..... had a customer this week decided he didn't like where I put his reflective black 3m web site and wanted it moved onto the rear window of his Jeep.
I tried peeling off a letter off, although it was pretty fresh the adhesive was completely releasing so I got the...
