We've been using Nazdar Lyson 2100 for 3 month now, around 40 cartridges (one bad one), very happy with them. Initial change out was no brainer, just pull out the 4 OEMs, insert 4 Lysons, started printing. (Some color shifts, need to print a new profile). The savings is tremendous.

These low cost flabeds are all with pinch roller fed design. Remember the Colorspan flatbed discussions a few days ago, regarding the problems of unreliable substrate feeding. I suspect the same issues exist.

Even though our plotter has OPOS, I still see the pain sometimes to read the reg. marks, and it can only do about 8 feet long a a time. I have directed my fabricating staff to hand cut the straight-line-only printings. Only use the plotter to contour cut shaped decals.

Using "pen" outline tool, adjusting thickness to your liking, then contour it at half of the value, if your need to cut them.

Seems the "smart chips" is too smart for it's own good. Let's not bother to replacing the chips, why should we? Have extra cartridges on hand, send those "bad" cartridges back as defective. If they have to eat enough "defects", they might revise the firmware to dumb down the chip reader.

The online design software actually is the best one I seem so far. Better than the $4 grand Sitesite. Good job on that part. Pricing wise, check out SignsUs dotcom as comparison. Their prices are a lot higher and still doing quite well.
