  1. What thickness of acrylic for 5'x6' with 1" spacers

I trust this is inside ?? If so, your calculations should be fine. Three top, three bottom and one on each side. 8 all total. Are you doing clear ??
  2. Hello

That's alright, I don't need ya to taste it, I'll trust ya. I used to drink grappa too, but gave it up about 8 or 10 years ago. An old friend would bring it back from his visits to italy. Weird. Some tasted good and some not so good. He no longer goes back home. He stays here, now
  3. Do you laminate your plain vinyl lettering?

Maybe someone in this thread could enlighten me. They say laminate will add 12 to 18 months to a print. So, some people put cast overtop of calendered and some do it the correct way of matching it all up. So, if you do it the correct way, how does the laminate know to last 4 years and then...
  4. Hello

I'd rather have italian wine. Have any of that laying around ?? Much easier to ship, too.
  5. Do you laminate your plain vinyl lettering?

Outta curiosity............. your profile shows you have less than a year's experience. That's fine, nothing wrong with that. We all started at some point, but how much time does your installer have?? Does he want you to.... first, laminate colored vinyls, then feed them into a cutting...
  6. Do you laminate your plain vinyl lettering?

    Nope.
  7. OK then.......

    You're still here.....................
  8. OK then.......

Why...... just why ?? Not about this idiot doing this, but why are you reading this stuff ?? What were you goggling in the first place ??
  9. Would you guys apply vinyl over mullions?

Nope. First of all, the customer needs to be sensible about this and make sure they don't want something up there that needs to span several windows without it looking chopped up. I'd be looking for another area to letter or put up a solid sign.
  10. High school graduating banners with pictures

Holy Chit mon...... graduation pictures sure have changed over the years.
  11. Any ideas on a help wanted ad?

My stepson worked for me about 35 years ago. Around day 2, I hadda tell him to go home, before I killed him. He knew everything and I did not have the time to teach a know-it-all about life and how to shut the fug up. Some kids are meant/cut out to help in the family business and others are...
  12. Any ideas on a help wanted ad?

    Yeah, that too.
  13. Any ideas on a help wanted ad?

Wow....... how many can read a scale ruler ??
  14. Looking to get aluminum signs made - Anyone have a source?

I think 10mm alumalite would do the job and not bow or warp. Ya only need one sheet cut to those sizes. If worried about vandalism, then nothing will work. If someone wants it, they'll find a way. It would behoove the OP to have a piece delivered, he cut it up, put the reflective down and...
  15. Wood, oil based exterior primer

I said strip, not sand. You'll need to use paint stripper. Sanding will never get in all those relief areas. You can take a chance, but after working in this field all these years, what I already said works the best. No idea what drying out a sign is, but there are methods to restoring...
  16. Wood, oil based exterior primer

Basically, yes. You'll need to strip all the paint off. What will happen is simple. The old paint will continue to let go and peel, even with new primer and paint over top of it. In fact, when introducing new paint to old paint, there is a chemical reaction gonna take place, especially in...
  17. Wood, oil based exterior primer

A good water-based primer will be just fine. However, you need to get ALL of the paint off down to bare wood, in order to prime the old wood again. You shouldn't prime over old paint whatsoever.
  18. Need Help Our A/C just went out.................

What are those things called in notareal's backyard. Geigh..... geigh......geigh.
  19. Need Help Our A/C just went out.................

Just sidestep the gators and the wart hogs. Avoid the roosters (they bite and scratch like hell), don't mingle with the other help, insist on no food from the company..... bring your own..... and most of all, put a clothespin on your nose cause they all sweat up a frickin' storm.
