I've done that second surface application before, but it was only for smaller POP display type signage. Stuff that was going to be possibly touched. Otherwise, I would stick with trans over sign white acrylic/polycarbonate. It will diffuse fine.

I have Omega, Signlab, and Flexi-pro. I use Omega with my Edge. It just works better and there is no surprises. I don't use the Spectratones, but I like using Omega for all my cut vinyl designing. I use Corel for all of my large format printing and import into Flexi.

In the backing/finish option, select job area as "applies to" area. It will flood coat everything. There is also an option that says "Backing White Coat" that you can use.
