Could be...Roland recently lowered the price on the SP-300V. And the one you quote is for a discontinued model (SP-540). But what's the shipping cost from Asia? Roland warranty still applicable? And the big one is, will Cosmex or Techno-G support it? :) :) :)
Fred - another thing to ensure is that the software for the drive will run under 9.1. As an example, I tried to get my iPod mini to hookup to a friend's older iBook (9.x) and no go; software was for OS-X only :(

This has perplexed me since you first posted so I fired up both 12 and X3 side by side and damn, they both zoom the same. Identical. I can't tell the difference. My settings are set the same as well in Tools>Options>Toolbox>Zoom, Hand Tool. Perhaps you had some other settings applied in...

I have been cutting directly from Corel for years, no stunts involved, the only cobbled-up software used being the Windows drivers that were supplied by my cutter manufacturer, Roland. :Canada 2:
One of my favourite 'training methods' is to just take my time and go through each and every tool and menu item in a new program and experiment with what it does and make a few notes to interesting ones and how they could be used in context.
Self-taught. My first 'real' sign job was when I was about 12 or 13 years old. It was to correct a spelling error that the local sign painter had made on one of my late father's buildings :) ... see the other current thread on this topic :)
