I haven't had many problems with basic cut vinyl on textured surfaces as long as you heat it down afterwards. I would, however, be concerned with the humidity and steam from the shower more so than the surface.
I print 3M IJ40C and laminate with Decorative Films SX-2080 Clear Dry Erase. It is pricey but it works better than anything else I've tried. Most of my customers are willing to pay a little extra for dry erase prints that will last a long time and wipe clean without any cleaners.
I have never had issues getting substrates from Grimco, but I always buy bulk for the discounts, so not sure if that makes a difference on delivery time. I save about $9/sheet by purchasing 25 sheets of 6mm Maxmetal, always delivered next day.
I'm in the same boat and have currently narrowed our search down to the Multicam Apex 1R, Vision VR48, and Techno HD/Atlas 4896. I would suggest narrowing your search and then reaching out to each company. They will conduct 1 on 1 video demonstrations or even visit your shop. What I have learned...
I always thought the 8518-8520 was intended to be used with the 180 print films? Do you see an advantage using the 8518 over the 8508 when printing on 40C-10R?
Yes, I'm using rollers and Porter Cable heat guns. I can get it to go down during the intstall, but when I visit the sites 6 months later, I've noticed some of the vinyl is starting to tent over the grout.
I currently use 3M IJ8624 Rough Texture vinyl with 8524 laminate for any textured wall wraps (brick, cinder block, etc). I have noticed other wall wraps that seem to hold into the grout lines better than the 3M rough texture. What media are you using for brick wall wraps?
