Here's a quick example I came up with for the cusp node. Not as easy as just clicking in illustrator but it's better than making a small line you don't need IMO.

Best option I've come up with is to move just one anchor handle independently from the other in the direction I want the new curve to go. This is done by holding the left mouse button down over the handle you want to move then holding control and dragging it to wherever. Alternatively click...
