  4. Why sell equipment and not shop?

Cocky has nothing to do with it, I am stating a fact. I am no better than any other sign professional. But I do know a business can be sold and not have to close.
  5. Why sell equipment and not shop?

There is one sign shop in my town that has 60 - 65 employees and $7+ million in sales a year. I've seen the figures. So it is possible to do. But always, I will sell my business and you can all close yours.
  6. Supplier/Distributor Frustration

The best company for substrates that I deal with is N. Glantz they carry dozens of different material at a very very low price. I happen to be on their delivery route so I only pay $3.00 for shipping no matter what I order. http://www.nglantz.com/
  7. 45 or 60 degree?

Never used sandblast masks, don't even know what it's for
  8. Why sell equipment and not shop?

I am not talking about failed businesses. Lets try this. Lets say my business is 10 years old, I do $500,000 in sales yearly. I have 10 corporate contracts and 50 recurring customers. I have $80,000 in inventory. Now does that mean my business is only worth $30,000 because of the equipment...
  9. 45 or 60 degree?

Yeah I think the 60 is designed for things such as Multi-Lens vinyl which is mega thick.
  10. 45 or 60 degree?

  11. 45 or 60 degree?

    Thanks
  12. Stumped

Hmm interesting. I would remove the existing, and just lay down a new sheet. You can either measure the letters and find out the font used, or you can do it in section. But paint would probably be the best and easiest way.
  13. 45 or 60 degree?

Yeah maybe 80 would be better. It's been too long.
  14. Credit card sales?

Well it's really tough not having any start up money, no operating money. I bought a used Roland GX500, and brand new GX24, plus all the tools, vinyl, supplies, used office tables and chairs, and all for $7,000. I am working within the last $200 left on my credit card before the limit. So...
  15. Only up for about 7 months.

You need to back off the attitude. While some home based sign companies are run by professionals and know what they are doing, some say "this looks neat!" and buys a china plotter, and cheapest vinyl possible, and starts making random stuff. Hence the reason I said some, not all, not most, just...
  16. 45 or 60 degree?

I can't remember if its better to use a 45 or a 60 for cutting Oracal reflective, I am pretty sure it's 60 degree at about 120 force, does that sound right?
  17. Why sell equipment and not shop?

Well it's up to the new owner to decide if he is going to be a success or not. Most businesses train the new owner. But I do agree that there could be hidden problems with the business, it happened to me before. I owned to lease to own a mobile sign shop, it was in a box truck, and had...
  18. Why sell equipment and not shop?

Okay here is a big mystery that has me stumped. Every sign shop I've ever seen that is closing, is selling off the equipment and supplies and not selling the actual business. A small sign shop of about 900 square feet would be worth $100,000 with a decent customer base. Triple that for one...
  19. I think I am done working for myself....

I am sorry to hear things aren't going according to plan. I hope to never work for someone else anymore, tried of being yelled at all day long.
  20. Only up for about 7 months.

Wow that looks awful, must have been in direct sunlight for months. Some home based sign makers like to use flashy stuff to make it look better and don't understand that the outdoor durability is so incredibly low.
