I agree with Superior Adam, do not print UV ink on a perforated material...... I printed one and came our really great, when I arrive to the site, I found out that all the holes were covered with ink, tried to roll the material really small in diameter thinking that ink will break and come off...

also, check for accumulated in when printing beyond the substrate, that little ink will make a change specially if the material is hard, like dibond. another trick, if I suspect that there is uneven material, I check thickness in 5 points, center and middle of the center and left, right top...

I will say, NO. Mimaki ink most likely is UV, Roland is solvent. you do not want to use diesel on your gasoline engine......

looks to me that that area is a little higher than the rest, but if this is not the first one, check under the print head, some times, dirt is accumulated and causes to touch material, but is strange that only in that area.

I started to read this tread and did not pay attention to when started, about 6 years ago..... Did you ever did this silo? How much did you charge? How long did it take you? it it was done, do you have a picture?

I believe, heat has nothing to do with the head strike, I have a latex 365 and the heater is about 10" away from the head travel path....

What printer you used to print it? when I started using our HP Latex printer, I had that finish on almost any material, I touched and left some "greasy" marks, but found out that it was the temperature, not enough to dry the ink, after figuring that out, I get really a nice finish on the prints.

What I do is set the file to be 4.5" x 11.5", then die cut to that exact size 4x11, after die cutting, I remove the "waste vinyl", leaving the cut stickers on the liner, than trim them at the center of each decal.... problem solved, easy to peel off.
