I met this customer nearly 2 years ago. I got a call from him last fall asking me to make him a new sign. I live 1 1/2 hrs away from him and I'm not familiar with his town. I look up his addy on Google Maps and see his too small sign and it's facing away from on comming traffic and it's below...

My only caution is to make sure the primer/paint is really dry before masking......latex takes a lot longer than enamels. The best test I know is to just put a scrap piece of vinyl down on it and apply some heat......if there is moisture left, it will lift the vinyl. Joe, Makin Chip$ and...

I've never double coated my size tho I know several who do. That said, my only thought on this problem is this..... All size is designed to be very high gloss leading to a brillant gild. Most, if not all, enamels have a tough time sticking to a high gloss surface and that's why it's wise...

Thanks everyone! Gino, the bird is attached with 2 stainless steel screws from the back.....no glue. When it needs re-coating, the bird can be easily removed to make the process simple. Joe, Makin Chip$ and Havin Fun!

Just finished this. All eastern white pine, 5/4x52" long. Stained black with 5 coats of poly. The bird is 5/4 thick and 10" high. All hand carved....no sanding and stained with stains that I make and coated with poly. It is mounted off the ground with stainless steel screws. Thanks...

Rolco works just fine for me and I know others who use it as well.....no problems. I never have a problem with skins......I use every drop in the can. Joe, Makin Chip$ and Havin Fun!
