  2. Illy question on Offset Path

Before applying the offset I ctrl-c or option-c on the Mac (copy) the shapes. Then apply the offset. Once you have done this and while still selected. Combine all those shapes so that it becomes one shape. Paste ctrl-f and your original will now be on top and separate from the offset

  9. Illustrator and blur? Why does it take so long to save?

It is mostly based on how powerful your machine is and not the software. All of these special effects do nothing more than add complexity to the file
  10. Todays Photoshop Update

Ouch, so on a 16 foot long vehicle you have a 4-5 Gig file? That's what photoshop says for 300 dpi. Sounds like too much resolution for something viewed from far away. Most magazine images are around that resolution and you view from a few inches. Print ads are 300-400ppi

  12. Photoshop Text

In Illustrator there is a tab called "glyphs". In some OTF Opentype fonts there are in some cases over 100 characters designed into a font that you CANNOT access through alt keys or the character map

Sorry I am referring to "outside of the sign world". Most of the big name design agencies use Macs/Adobe. The "typical" service bureau prefers Adobe produced ai/eps. Almost every college teaches Adobe. These are just facts. I am not arguing which is better. The sign world has mostly adopted...

Maybe the issue Stacy is trying to make is that in your own sign shop... colors, output, fonts, profiles, etc are easier to master. But when you are accepting files from customers then you run into trouble. Many years ago, I mostly used Corel and after getting burned on bad output from Corel I...

Drawing line: pen tool The help menu in CS3 looks like an entire manual, it does not go to the website. Maybe that is in an older version I have used Illustrator since the program first came out, so Corel is very foreign to me. When you use a program for a long time it becomes second nature...
