the JV3 put's all Rolands to shame in my opinion. You can have your printer/cutter all in ones, with that setup you can only do one thing at a time. Unlike with having 2 seperate mahines. My Mimaki JV3 has been trouble free going on over 3 years now. What's an encoder stip?

My warranty expired just over 2 years ago on my JV3, at the time I was offered a second 1 year warranty for $5000.00 parts and labor included. I passed on It was way to much and to this day the printer works like a charm.

Sewing on a home sewing machine will not work, the needle gets heated up and starts to melt the vinyl. Get some 2way tape and hem It that way.

No you wont screw up the machine, you don't want to remove the cartage untill your machine tells you your out of that colour or else It's possible to get air in your ink lines. As far how long it will last depends how much you use of that colour, It can last a few days or a few minutes. Allways...

Use 3 pinch rollers with full presure and cut a full roll, make sur it's lined up stright.

It might be you have a corrupted file, try pinting on a different material and see if the same thing ocurs.
