  1. highway billboard

We just did this 7' X 60' and then one on the other side that's 7' X 25' and it's just standard 13oz banner. We just frame it out with wood, then fasten all the grommets to it. We've done them up to 20' X 20' in 13oz standard banner and not had any issues. They normally fade before they have...
  2. Should I call for service

My 310 always wanted to smash into the material after the head would move around a little after the ink had cured. I took the temps down like 20 degrees and it seems to have fixed it. Haven't really had an issue since. I'm not sure if that's the same point yours is giving you trouble, but...
  3. Wrap premasked install ?

We had to do a Best Buy Geek Squad van once that got wrecked and a local body shop was fixing it. They sent all that pre-masked and it was the biggest pain in the butt ever to wrap it. Luckily it didn't have a ton of curves on the van, but you can't tell what it's looking like as you lay it...
  4. Never done that in all my years......................................

I do work with a local engraving company and have to laugh at how many times we've carried on total conversations where he's talking about inches and I'm talking feet. I bet it's happened 3X and we didn't clarify until we were giving them the proof.
  5. Aging/ailing parents - So thankful we had "the talk"...

I've been watching this play out as well. All of my great grandparents died in their 60's and 70's, so they still were kind of able to stay at home and take care of themselves, and died at home. My grandparents now (3) all went into assisted living within two months of each other. My mom...
  6. Its worse than I could have imagined.......

I generally do this too. I show them where they can see our work in town if they aren't familiar, and I quote the job for them and tell them upon approval of pricing, we'll start artwork. I have a lot of repeat customers though, so generally, I don't make a repeat customer put any money down.
  7. PhotoTex vs Mactac Roodle

Phototex has been amazing for me. Probably used it 6-7 years or so now. We have used both the standard stuff, and they now have a high tack that I've used (installs a little harder because it grabs more, but still totally repositionable) and love it. We cut it too, just cut slow. Prints real...
  8. Shout Out For "The Vector Doctor"

You don't have to ever wonder about how it's gonna turn out with the doc. Been with him for years, never had a single issue that he didn't let me know about ahead of time. Normally he's pickier than I am.
  9. Backup System Needed - Please Educate Me

I just bought 200 gig of space from iCloud. I have a time machine backup for my local files, but store all my new files on the cloud I create so that I can access them at home, or from my iPhone easily wherever I am. It's $3/month. I had the Western Digital "My Cloud" which worked ok, but I...
  10. Thinking it might be time to hire my first employee, how to in this day and age?

I actually kind of agree with this. I have a core group of people that keep me busy. They get top priority and generally an email from them creates a couple days of work for me. The new walk ins or phone calls generally mean people don't know what they want, and want to waste a bunch of my...
  11. Thinking it might be time to hire my first employee, how to in this day and age?

I kind of get there seasonally in the summer, and realized that utilizing all the subs that are MM's on this board, I could do way more than if I had to deal with teaching someone every time I needed help, and I didn't have to deal with all the issues you have with employees. When I'm slow, I...
  12. Want to share your failed Before and After attempts?

To paint the picture, I do hardly any artwork design anymore. Sign Amigo is my go to even for the smallest of jobs. I've had a few of these over the years where I thought we could do something really fun with their logo, and he hit it out of the park on the design. I think out of the few we...
  13. Signs2Trade Photo Examples

    Ordered a 7' X 60' and a 7' X 25' today. I should have it Friday. Crazy.
  14. Signs2Trade Photo Examples

Hey 28, you can tell them how often to put grommets. That does seem like maybe just an oversight and they normally put them 2-3ft apart, but I normally specify in the notes what I need. And yes, they're amazing. The drop ship makes my life so much easier for customers out of town. Just order...
  15. Hp latex 360 printer

You can do it however you want. There's a little steel trough in there right where my Mimaki used to cut the media. The head is parked, and it can't possibly hurt a thing. It gets me a straight cut every time. Seems like a lot of jacking around to do it any other way.
  16. Hp latex 360 printer

I bought the HP 310 about two months ago. I had a Mimaki JV33 before that, and a JV3 before that. Compared to the Mimaki, loading the material, and using the takeup is a giant pain in the butt. The pre-print and curing time after you print does seem to take forever compared to the JV33, but...
  17. Wrapping over a contour and having your images look straight? How do I do this?

I finished up a partial wrap this morning, and once I got back from it and looked at it, it appeared as though the text was dropping to the left. To get a straight line, I tied a string between the wipers on the back then measured down to the "FLOWERS". It's all straight there as far as...
  18. USB to serial conversion kit

I had to put a card in mine and it worked great once I did that. I never had any luck with the adapters.
  19. Latex Printable Chrome?

Do you guys use that profile for pretty much everything on the 360? I have a 310 and it seems to hit most colors pretty good, but my reds aren't as vibrant as I like.
  20. Onyx 12 - CUT-Server Default Change?

Paul, your settings didn't seem to help. Maybe it's because I'm connected Ethernet or something, I don't know, butit did what it always did before where as soon as it finds the crop marks, it kicks over to my first condition on the graphtec, and then it's not right for that media. I'm looking...
