  1. GraphiCut

Well, you actually are not biting the bullet - you are bullet-proofing. The machine does WHAT it is intended for, which is give new people and hobbyists an entry-level option. We somehow think you have progressed beyond that. The bad thing, about these entry-level "stepper machines" machines...
  2. GraphiCut

We cannot and will not say nothing bad about Ordway - they seem to be very decent people. Look at the machine carefully. It is all over, and many starters and hobbyists have them. Ordway once used to market it with another name. Basically, it is a stepper-driven machine. If you sincerely want...
  3. Can This Happen?

Glad to hear that he is running. He is still not out of the woods yet - he NEEDS to find out what the ACTUAL cause was. If it was virus related, he may need to look at his software - and maybe, just maybe the drive was on its leg anyway.
  4. Can This Happen?

Yes, a virus can kill a hard drive, and many other things. If he can load the OS on the HDD, it most likely is still okay. Unfortunately, of the possibilities is the corruption of the system (motherboard) BIOS - which can usually be reloaded (re-flashed). Before he gets to wild (probably too...
  5. Corel Draw 12 Problems

Since being a Corel user from early on - I can honestly say that it DOES have glitches here and there. The best solution we have ever found is to load/install Corel BEFORE everything else. We do this anytime a software package acts up. Eventually you end up with a specific order of installation...
  6. Western Digital Caviar SE 320GB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive

Techman, You obviously have a knowledge for pc's. With this in mind, you will understand what I mean by the fact (based in our experience) that the WD IDE drives CANNOT handle the constant spin-up/spin-down. I shutter at the though of drives with only 12 month warranties. We had toooo many...
  7. Western Digital Caviar SE 320GB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive

Have to agree with uneedasign. WD was the reason we turned to SCSI drives. If a drive has less than a 5 year warranty - we run like hell! As it stands now, Seagate has the best running reputation, for practically the same prices as WD.
  8. Desperate for NEW Starcraft Logo

Assuming you still need this and that you do not want to make an attempt to clean up a crappy jpeg, you can take the "clean" stuff and have it scanned at a Kinkos, etc. We have been in that boat (pardon the pun), and their 24 hr. operations are an added bonus.
  9. Graphtec software?

Bob, My hat is off to you! You must truly be a CS rep's nightmare  (Outspoken, with very little room/time for forgiveness of errors.) Do not misunderstand - we have no issue with that, as to the fact it keeps these manufacturers and resellers on their toes  Personally...
  10. Dislike Flexi

Ron, You almost sound as if you are working on a psychiatric degree, and we are your study animals :Big Laugh. Come to think of it, maybe Fred is "in" with one of the universities, on the coast?????:Big Laugh
  11. Dislike Flexi

If memory serves correct (too long ago to care), Ventura and PageMaker did not appear until AFTER MS Pub. Until then Corel and Illustrator were being used. Not that it matters - and not like we all will lose sleep. The reference to Corel and Illustrator was in response to many (not just...
  12. Dislike Flexi

Doug, Touche...well said. As for Corel and Illustrator, to be correct, they fall into the DTP category - and yes, they cover a greater market. The point was that they are also the most common in the signage business because of their cost. (Apple and Adobe have the commercial printers locked...
  13. Corel extra lines

One of the best publishers out there is SAMS. They sell "Teach yourself xxxx in 24 hours". They have good layouts written in ENGLISH. Even if it is a 12 book, it is still helpfull PLUS give you insight on what you would gain by upgrading.
  14. Dislike Flexi

This must be a "beat up on Flexi day". All software has its pros and cons. Fortunately for all, of there are more pros than cons. One of the nicest features that Flexi has is the ability to convert the "workspace" layout, to whatever program you are familiar with. Flexi really...
  15. Just had to say this........

Bob, Your point is taken BUT machinery is machinery, and even the best of products will eventually need service and/or support, in their lifetime. That is just a fact and thus the reason for words such as: warranty, defect, service, support, etc. A product, any product, is only as good as...
  16. Just had to say this........

Although we have never looked for Summa issues - we did consider them, originally. The key word is support. That is where it is at! Without support all products are junk. We are extremely lucky where as 99% of our suppport is local (even the Calgragh rep lives here :Big Laugh ) Today, many...
  17. Upnights Signing In As New Member

Welcome Upnights! You should not have mentioned that you "love vectorizing" - someone may call the little guys in white coats. Ask away.................. George
  18. Looking for Skyhook Logo (Vectored)...

The response of "why should I waste my time?" can be answered with "why should we waste ours?". You are just wanting to be lazy, at the expensive of the hard-working members of this forum. Moreover, if this is your unit, why does it even matter? - so much so that you must act as an ass...
  19. CMYK output in Flexi 7.5

All of our area printers prefer AI formats (usually version 8 legacy), which Flexi can do. The only common catch is to make sure that the fonts are converted to outlines (objects) AND print a color proof to take along. Bleed, CMYK, etc. are all pre-press operations, that the print shop should...
  20. Newbie Here to Signs 101

Welcome Chuck! :Welcome: I think everybody here always enjoys a new "chew toy" :Big Laugh (Maybe I shouldn't have told you yet.............?) Anyway - do us all a favor. FORGET that "experience" stuff! I CAN guarantee you that you have experience in something, or things, that we don't...
