  1. Let me have it both barrels please

You can do something dimensional within his budget. Hell - use 3mm polymetal/dibond as a backer, and then get some 3mm PVC and a scroll saw. This isnt' rocket science....
  2. Let me have it both barrels please

You are too married to the enclosed panel idea...
  3. Sandcarved Sign Suppliers

    Signetics
  4. Window perf questions

Did you seriously just ask about paneling window perf? Like, for real? Adam - please handle this. I don't have the patience today....
  5. installing perf

    +1 to not laminating perf.
  6. Vinyl on fabric awnings?

It depends on the type of awning. The canvas types are fine for vinyl. Cloth? Not so much. I've got cast vinyl up on several of the canvas style awnings for 3+ years with no problems. Had someone come to me to do similar work on their awning (cloth) a while back. I explained that we couldn't do...
  7. installing perf

I say this with absolutely no snakiness intended. If you can't lay perf, go into a different business. It is about the easiest stuff on earth to lay down. Remove the rear wiper first.
  8. partial wrap!

    Very nice!
  9. Let me have it both barrels please

Addie, You are trying to build a house without pouring a foundation. For someone with your (admitted) lack of design skills is being even FURTHER accentued by your seeming refusal to step away from the computer. Please. Step away from the computer. Grab a pencil.
  10. to mask or not to mask

Masking has 2 purposes. 1. To keep cut and separated graphics in one piece. 2. To add rigidity and decrease/remove stretching from the equation. If you don't need to address either of those issues, then don't mask.
  11. Pub Logo

Please dont' anyone think that I'm speaking FOR Joe here, but I can venture a guess. Joe knows what he is GOOD AT. Now, he can DO other things, just like Dan Antonelli can. However, he is KNOWN for a specific style. Because of that, he is recognized as an expert in that style. He can create...
  12. is the optional take up reel (TU-2) worth the investment ($2100)

If you are only running, on average, jobs that are 1-10', then no - you don't. If you run more than that, or need to be able to multi-task without babysitting the printer, then it is essential.
  13. Can you wrap this?

The key to wrapping anything like that is designing specifically for it. I would NEVER try to install customer supplied graphics on something like that.
  14. Pub Logo

I don't care for the bevel mostly because of my own tastes  For a sign, I would not do that as digital print. Rather as somethign dimensional, and therefore the bevel would be real, and not simulated. For the logo itself, I just like clean and flat - as ti makes it easier to reproduce...
  15. is the optional take up reel (TU-2) worth the investment ($2100)

Assuming you don't need to laminate....Of course, one of these days a company is going to come up with a print/lam/cut unit. And I will buy it.
  16. is the optional take up reel (TU-2) worth the investment ($2100)

If you don't have a takeup reel you are missing the boat. I was lucky enough when I bought my VJ that there was a promo that gave you the takeup reel for free. It is literally used every day. For example, yesterday I was slammed, and at the end of the day I still needed to run about 70' of...
  17. Potential or Trainwreck?

Love the idea of the pine tree being the leg of the "P". Hate Old Glory as the main font. (And I love Old Glory - but as an accent, not as the main font).
  18. Pub Logo

As always your ideas are great, Joe!!! I would only mention a couple of thoughts from an outside perspective. 1. I would lose the beveling in "PU13" 2. I would seriously consider losing the script "thirteen" and let the B/13 stand on it's own. That is a sick cool idea and would stick really...
  19. My first business window job!

If you are paying $30-40 for a 20" circle, wholesale, you are crazy. I'm not going to get too into pricing on this side of the forum, but suffice to say the cost to print/lam is drastically lower than the cost to set-up and cut 3 layers of vinyl, then lay it stacked on site. Drastically.
