I have these: http://www.spaceray.com/garage_infrared_heaters/index.php
They are quiet, require zero maintenance and are explosion proof.(completely sealed combustion)
Original one is almost 20 years old, and save for blowing the dust off of it after summer I never touch it.
All the working...
In the realm of wide format I've found third party RIP's to be far more powerful/capable with far more options for controlling output. When you only make one product it better be on point.
So what is the rationale for spending 2 grand on a Roland only RIP? Like Pat White said there are other options out there that will drive everything in the shop. Why paint yourself into a corner?
No need to take anything apart unless you're replacing the encoder strip. It's an awkward reach to be sure, but once you've done it a few times you develop a feel. You can always kneel or crouch and use a flashlight to see what you're doing.
Encoder strip will be found just above the carriage guide rail. You're looking for a thin, vertical strip of plastic that runs almost the length of the machine. Use a flashlight as its dark under the cover.
If you've never cleaned it then it needs to be done. Simple way to clear up print...
I wouldn't want the mess in the shop. You'll probably want to use a mist style coolant rig to help bit life and control particles. Aluminum dust is abrasive and will get into everything too. Besides it's no good to be breathing the dust either.
I use a local sheet metal shop that has a...
Worth the cabbage? I'd have to say no, unless they have an no questions asked lifetime warranty.
I use the Harbor Freight dual temp heat guns. $7.99 with a coupon and they work quite well. If I drop it or run it over I don't care.
Watch the video carefully. You can seen dust on the nip rolls. Once the stop on the back of the scale hits the platen the dust stops moving. The rollers stall/stop once the shim stock has been fed through. That is why you have to use the reverse button or lift the rollers. If the shim stock...
The rod does not stay with the machine. It is a metal tube with a crimped end you use to lower the capping station. If you can't find it you can make another.
Helpful hint. When I replaced the cables on my SP540V I put a long piece of tape on the metal above the track. This allowed me to...
It's for people that have never had the pleasure of cleaning out 50' or 100' of paint line. I know firsthand since I own a Binks Falcon. In a production shop I can see where that would pay for itself within a month. For us simple sign guys not so much.
Its apparent none of you have ever...
