  3. Painting awning surfaces

is it sunbrella? ...or vinyl? I would look to Naz-Dar screenprinting inks, made for flexibility in garment printing. I've used 1-shot to paint lettering on sunbrella, but not the whole awning. If it's a vinyl awning, maybe vinyl screen ink will work, but also, maybe you could wrap the...
  4. Edge Omega design station software needed

I have the 2.5 layout station dongle (Safe-Net Sentinel) right here, in it's original wrapper. I am willing to sell mine for $299 too. I thought I'd use it more, but I've only used it to test it out & have never used it other then that. I still have the manual and installation instructions too.
  5. Great Resource

sjm, it is ironic how aptly your presence in this thread illustrates the point that while others may at times have useful unbiased info, it is by no means a unanimous occurrence. I will also add that I have invested in Jon's marketing consultations on and off for years. If NFL, NBA and MLB...

oh well.. I guess I'm gonna dish out my own version of "sage advice" again... ...with my usual vinegar edge.. sorry, but I gotta say this... I commented in your thread the other day, that I thought you would at least benefit from advice, and therefore were more worth giving it to then...
  10. finaly changed the capping station today

so you say he's "a tech" and he worked on your Mimaki.. but that doesn't tell us for sure if he is a Mimaki employee, doing warranty work... or a sign supply house "tech"... or some freelance printer repair tech.. Generally, I would have thought if I had an authorized Mimaki technician, I'd...
  11. Designing a sandblasted sign...

who is blasting it? who is cutting and applying the mask? who is painting it? how familiar are you with the process? There are several steps, and there are multiple options available at every step of the way. it should be designed similar to a vinyl sign in the sense that you objecting should...

great job! nice rebates, quick investment return & awesome lifetime savings... makes sense on many levels before even getting to the enviromental one... and i happen to think that too is a good thing!
  15. Is it customer's fault or mine

I disagree. To me, as a typesetter or designer, if I charge $100 or $1000 to do a design, and perhaps supply that design on a disc... I expect to send proofs, do revisions, and even catch typos... and when that job is done (signed proof) then any number of other things might result from that...
  16. Is it customer's fault or mine

I agree with the general consensus here.. the proof approval process should be designed to remove that responsibility from you, but it only works if it is clear to the client... ..if it was a 10 or 20 word sign, you should do it over, but in a 200 to 2000 word brochure, I would tell them it is...

  19. People who are jealous of you

Scar, first I want you to know why I reply to a lot of your posts... I think you are a good example of someone who puts good advice to use, and we get to see you grow, so I offer advice because I don't think it will be wasted like with some of the strangers we see once or twice & never again...
  20. People who are jealous of you

Maybe they are not jealous. Maybe that is just an adjective that makes you feel better about the situation... ...but when people bash your business in public, that is not a good situation... so feeling better about it may be less important then understanding it & possibly taking steps to...
