the values were pretty dead on to my pantone chart and it did indeed print a blue similar to the cmyk valued swatch, but they want the deeper richer blue of the actual pantone colour.

I agree with you but changing the main spot colour is not the problem for me. it would be changing every step of the gradient as well. I dont think I can isolate everything and then the gradient recreates itself based on the data. Maybe I need the original file to accomplish that.., but like I...

its pantone 289. Bridge chart shows it as a washed out light navy colour.

I still have a dedicated line for faxes, but it also serves as a third phone line for out calling, so for the $25 per month it is worth it. There are still a lot of people who are not computer savy and we still recieve orders. Not a lot mind you.

I have that happening on the odd illustrator conversion to eps. It really blows cause you never know its there until it's to late. The only software I have found that seems to detect it is Omega when printing on the edge as the letters or fills simply disapear on the screen.
