  1. Illustrator cs2

I didn't know Graphtec made a hobby cutter. Interesting....Looking at the Graphtec site, it looks like .dxf is the only file you can import if you have the ROBO master software. Convert your tect to curves and make sure you have no stroke and everything is united or compound and it should work...
  2. Anybody Successfully Using . . .

I have a fondness for Roman script, it's a nice bouncy typeface that reminds me of hand painted lettering.
  3. Extreme Makeover - The Contest!

A few questions... Is this a directional only or a primary ID sign? Do they have a logo? If not, is the logo included in the price or is this only a layout? (this would price me out of the equation) If it is only a layout, is there a logo or any architectural element or color(s) that we can...

Kinda looks like House Gothic too, That typeface looks like something Photo-Lettering Inc would have done back in the day....(the Library is currently being digitized) cool typeface.... http://www.photolettering.com/
  5. Can you have?

You can never have enough good, usuable typefaces (this usually cost a chunk of change)....I very rarely use clip-art and have not used fills or effects so I can't answer that part.

  8. Illustrator mystery...

With the bounding box, I have noticed a couple of designers at my last job would get a little lazy and accidently squeeze and squish type at the tiniest amounts. I would call them on it when I was doing the production/construction doc files. After seeing them work, I noticed they usually forget...

  12. Overview Article on CS3

Interesting that no one on the Adobe site has figured it out unless I am misunderstanding you..... You select the nodes you want aligned with the "direct selection tool" then go to "Object">"Path">"Average" (or option/command-J on a Mac) a window will pop up and you can select "Horizontal"...
  13. Overview Article on CS3

....but Illustrator has anchor point alignment.....has had if for a looooong time. I like the erase tool. This upgrade will be slightly painfull for me because I plan on upgrading my computer too. I may wait around for CadTools to come out for CS3 before I upgrade but have not decided yet. I...

  15. Mike Steven's "Mastering Layout

I have read the book a few times from cover to cover...it's a good book, but it needs some serious updating. Now that most people use the computer, there are no-nos being done because it is so easier to make those mistakes. The book also falls short in maintaining Identity or a logo standard and...
  16. Indesign

There is no step and repeat in Illustrator but if you are familiar "move" check the "copy" box and then "command D" or using the keyboard short cuts for that, it is quick...or the plug-in CadTools has a step and repeat too and it will do it full size or too scale.
  17. Indesign

You can use InDesign (and Quark) for posters and some large format if you scale correctly. As a production monkey I recieved a lot of files from graphic designers who did large graphics in Quark all the time (this was before InDesign) with no problems and it did not shorten or lengthen RIP...
  18. Photoshop for Brochures

    Yes......Corel, Illustrator, Quark or InDesign
  19. Sign Wizard design software....anybody use it ?

I have used a very early version of SignWizard and did not like it much compared to Corel or Illustrator.
