  1. New business advice...

As cool as it would be to have a CNC, I would crawl before getting into a slow jog....what are you going to do with it? I could do a lot with it but I would have a few clients lined up before I ever purchased a router. Vinyl is not the fastest and quickest way to make money but it is a good...

  3. Cheap flexi alternative that scales objects

I used to work the way Doug did before CadTools came out, I mostly did the Full size to 8.333% or if was too big, then at a percentage. Most of the stuff is architectural and large or complicated signs with multiple scales on multiple layers and most of the people involved are architects or city...
  4. Cheap flexi alternative that scales objects

You can do the same in Corel or Illustrator. Corel has the advantage of having scale tools built into the program and it is inexpensive. Illustrator can do it (I do all my sign designing in Illustrator) BUT you need CadTools (www.hotdoor.com) to work in scale, but CadTools has better scale...

My brother had a 454 Chevelle when he was 18, that was way too much car for that kid.......I was a very good driver when I was young and I was always tempted to burn the hides off that car. He made a small fortune when he sold it.

  11. Problems with Flexi Key on new MAC

The move to Intel is a big deal for everyone. I will not get an Intel mac until Adobe CS3 comes out. I have heard that designers who switched too soon had initial problems with Adobe CS2 Suite. I'm glad Mac made the move but it's going to take a while too work the bugs out.

  17. corel is crap!

Having heard about Corels command of the sign industry for over 9 years on the internet I would say more shops are looking at Illustrator a lot more than the used too. I have heard more than once, that Corel was the "industry standard" which was probably the most misinformed statement I have...

  20. Illustrator Images - Linked or Embedded?

Got to: WINDOW-LINKS you can link and embed from there.... You can see your images there.... On what is best, I would ask the printer who is going to do it, depending on how it's printed I always found the printer wanted them linked so they can adjust the Photoshop images for color matching...
