The all do exactly the same thing in exactly the same way. Go for the one you get the best deal on.
  2. lxi/flexi question

Set the panel margin to zero. Second tab on the cut/plot dialog. Set the weed border to Off. Third tab on the cut/plot dialog.
  3. Bliss Font

Other than that stupid looking lower case 'l' it appears to be just another ho hum sans serif type face. You could start off in this face and switch to another in mid word and no one would know the difference. Or care.
  4. Help with Summa D60 SE and OPOS registration

Most likely the actual print is slightly different in both directions than the logical print in your software. Then, when the plotter senses the registration marks, it's not doing anything with that information or doing too much. Once the registration marks are sensed the plotter either has to...
  5. Lxi

No, the super duper galactic gold master turbo XL premium professional platinum version of LXi is the same as Flexi Expert not Flexi Pro. There is no RIP nor print facility in the top version of LXi. Other than that LXi is pretty much bit for bit Flexi with another name. The version...
  6. Panther plotters

Having owned both a 24" and a 30" Panther I can state with some authority that they are identical in operation. A Panther is probably the best of the el cheapo plotters. With the two I owned I had to replace the tool carriage once in the 24" and twice in the 30" in less than a year. As...
  7. Evaluating Estimating Software

I ran Estimate for a brief while then got rid of it. Not only did I disagree with some of the specific fundamental principles but in general I found that the Aristotelean approach to pricing was excessively anal and counterproductive. One fundamental with which I disagreed is that the...
  8. Font Loading

I have two machines on which I synchronize the font directories by copying all of the files in the font directory on each machine to the same CDR. This then yields a disk with the super set of all font files on both machines. You can use this disk and install all of the fonts on it on each...
  9. Outline Mode

The outline control point is always in the same place for any object. It's positioned somewhere in the neighborhood of the upper right corner of the object. More precisely would seem to be positioned perpendicular to the line through the rightmost highest point [maximum X and Y] in the first...
  10. Banding Help!!!!!

Banding in which direction, head or feed? If the banding is in the same direction as the print head motion then do all the stuff that everyone has suggested. Clean and tidy and proper heat settings reduces banding in this direction. If, however, the banding is in the media feed direction I...
  11. Font reccomendation...to get the point across

In the vein of lighthearted no trespassing signs I've always been fond of... Keep Out TRESPASSERS Will Be Violated ...In best tradition of squeal like a pig sociopaths. Unlike others, I'd delight in cranking out a few copies for someone. Smiling the whole time.
  12. Fc7000 160

The completely automated use of the ARMS on the Graphtec is problematic for prints much longer that 18"-24". It misses far more often than it works and it's a software thing more than hardware. The software moves the plotter form, say, mark 1 to where it thinks mark 2 ought to be and tells the...
  13. Master 300p Problem....help!

It certainly does fix the problem. Permanently and properly. Did it ever occur to you that such malfeasant behavior is inherent in low-rent equipment? Did you ever ponder that there is no real economy in pretend tools? That you're going to have to buy another one anyway, so why not do it...
  14. Outline Mode

Easy to change the layer color. Bring up the Design Editor, select the 'Layers' tab, right click on the layer, usually layer1, and select properties. Right there you can change the layer color.
  15. Plotter Question

It's across-over cable, just swap send and receive at one end. Pins 2 and 3 if memory serves.
  16. Can't combine, Cant Show Fills, + Parts missing in Cut/Plot :(

Bring up Flexi's Design Editor. It should show you why you can't get there from here; what's combined, what's grouped, what's locked, etc. Anytime you encounter strange behavior from an object, look at the Design Editor to determine that object's relationship to everything else.
  17. Corel to Flexi

You can save as a Corel Presentation Exchange file, .cmx, and import directly into Flexi. In recent iterations of Corel there's two cmx formats listed, plain vanilla and cmx 5. I've always used the pain unqualified cmx and seldom have a problem. Note that Corel's outlines are turned into a...
  18. Font help please ...

Ok, here's your program for this particular typographical train wreck, at least on my machines... 'BEANNIES' is EnvroD 'Smoke House' is Bernhard Fashion 'Seafood' is Bauhaus Medium ...and bog know what 'BBQ &' might be All in all a miserable collection of ghastly typefaces. Worse, this...
  19. Panel Saws

I find myself in the market for a panel saw. I've always wrangled everything through a table saw in the past and so have no real experience with panel saws. Any recommendations, experiences, features you must have, things you don;t want, etc. would be a boon. I've nosed around a bit and so...
  20. Outline problem

What font? If you have some low rent font file with knots in the the various characters you'll see this phenomenon. Try switching to wire frame mode and zoom in as close as you can on the area of the malfeasant outlines. See if there isn't a knot or some other perturbation in the character...
