  1. Cutter or Router: Colex v Shop Sabre

Good point here. My research tells me me a cool air "mister" works as good at cooling the bits as using lube. I've also seen some who are running 91% isopropyl alcohol instead of lube with great results. They claim the evaporation of the alcohol prevents sticking and making a mess and does...
  2. Cutter or Router: Colex v Shop Sabre

With the flatbed cutter, can't you let it cut a sheet (or what fits on the table) and just pull the big waste piece off in one shot, and then advance the conveyor letting the cut decals fall into a catch basket? I assumed you would loose a few of the table while pulling the waste off.. It's...
  3. Cutter or Router: Colex v Shop Sabre

Flatbed cutter or router table? Trying to decide between a shop sabre pro 10'x5' or colex sharpcut converyor 10'x5'. Completely different animals I know, trying to determine which would be better for me. Shop sabre would be fitted with 5hp spindle 6 tool changer, optiscout, ecocam knife...
  4. Optiscout camera not outputting video

Any update, did you get the camera working? Getting a quote on a shop sabre with opticscout. How is the workflow when you use the camera for printed signs? Do yoy have the tangential knife, ever cut any decals with opticscout? Looking for some real life feedback as it doesn't seem they are...
  5. Advice for shop expansion

Thanks for the reply. Is the CRI more to do about color than brightness? I guess I should elaborate more, this additions main use will be install bays for lettering and wraps. So I'm not concerned so much about the color of the lighting as one would be for a print room. My bigger concern is...
  6. Advice for shop expansion

Got the yard hydrant hooked up. Lumber and trusses delivered. Contractor coming Tuesday to frame it. Still hopeful I'll be able to get this closed in and floor poured before the ground freezes. Still need to decide on lighting. Anybody use LED shop lights, something like these, LED...
  7. Advice for shop expansion

Foundation walls are poured. My plan for running water for an outdoor spigot and sink. I want to be able to not have to heat the shop 24/7(allthough I probably keep it min 40* anyway) in the winter (NY) so I will install a 4' deep frost proof yard hydrant inside the shop next to where I'll T...
  8. Advice for shop expansion

This is my other concern with polished, chemicals/oil stains. We will be using 3m citrus remover and rapid remover which gets on the floors. And also runoff from cleaning vehicles, lots of alcohol. Vehicles also leak oil or coolant from time to time. I think I'm leaning epoxy. I'm not...
  9. Advice for shop expansion

I've read every thread here on floors, still can't find a consensus what it best for a concrete install bay? What I don't like about my epoxied floor is that it doesn't mop up easily because of the texture of the floor. I suppose I could polish and epoxy for dust free floor, but then It'll...
  10. Advice for shop expansion

I guess broom brushed was the wrong term. It's trowel finished but it's an older building and was in rough shape before I took it over.
  11. Advice for shop expansion

Another rendering zoomed out a little bit.. There really isn't good access to the north side of addition, blocked by a row of trees ( which could be cleared), but we also lease the area directly above it for trailer/tanker storage. This google earth image doesn't show many there when image was...
  12. Advice for shop expansion

I see your point with the benches/ladders etc. you have lining your walls. I'm hoping that having the 2 bays side by side, both bays kinda share the middle space between them, maybe a skinny table, or rolling tool carts, instead of lining the outside walls with 2-4' of stuff. Plus a work bench...
  13. Advice for shop expansion

So your bay is 62'x20 and mine will be 60-80'x 20'. And really if I build the office/lobby where it's shown in the sketch it will be 22' wide for the larger bay. I plan on putting a workbench/ wrap tools/supplies storage along the south side of the lobby wall and ladders and other hangables on...
  14. Advice for shop expansion

The new addition is 80'x40' 20' high ceilings. It is plenty big enough for big rigs, so I'm confused. In the sketch I show a line where 60' from overhead door is, that's the area that will be dedicated for install. Largest trailer I've done in 13 years was 54'. Unless you are concerned about...
  15. Advice for shop expansion

Door size is another decision I've been going back and forth about. The smaller bay, which is about 35' deep in this sketch would mostly be smaller vehicles, other bay for large trucks and 54' trailers. Originally thought a smaller door for the smaller bay just because they are easier to open...
  16. Advice for shop expansion

Finally got the building permit... Adding 80'x40x20' celling addition to our current 56'x36'x12' shop. We also have rented a 65'x25' bay next door for the last 13 years for larger vehicle installs, won't need to do that anymore. Addition will have 2 install bays, a lobby/reception area, room...
  17. Did anybody else get a Signs 365 surprise?

You couldn't find a spot for the DOI...
  18. Die cut decals

We stopped with flexcut years ago too. But we run the blade out .5 - .75 turns and bump the pressure and only do 1 pass. Very clean cuts.
  19. Font ID Please

Yes I always use whatthefont but it's mostly not accurate for obscure stuff like this. I don't even know if this one is a font. Ended up using smalts yesterday and modified it to get close.
