  1. What you think PROS?

The colors are off. It is hard to read. The kerning is poor. The leaf is overdone (guilty of it myself) http://www.adlertreeservice.net/ The fonts are all over the place. Main one is kind of futuristic, secondary is traditional, phone # is just plain blaah. An old layout trick I like to...
  2. PhatWall's final logo

Take off every special effect you have on it (yes I know that took time) Render it in plain black and white. You'll see that the P and W look really stretched/smashed. What is PhatWall? Would anyone but you know? Is it designs? Signs? Graphics? It doesn't tell us anything but is killing...
  3. One Shot Clear VS Edge Sealing Tape

All I know is that I totally ruined a panel I had taken about 4 days to paint when I had my son spray it for me. :) But that had nothing to do with wrapping. I can wrap some nice presents at Christmas though.
  4. One Shot Clear VS Edge Sealing Tape

I don't do wraps, so I am not sure how you would be using the 1S. But I am a sign painter, and I use 1S super gloss tinting clear when I can get it. It has never yellowed on me but it does have a very slight yellowish tone in the can. I use it for varnish shades (where you add a drop of color...
  5. Al Checca

Would anyone be willing to donate their services (such as logo design, website stuff, signs etc) to a dentist or oral surgeon in the Latrobe/Greensburg area in exchange for their helping Al? We all know some dentists with a nasty sign, this might be another way of helping.
  6. Al Checca

Al has health insurance but not dental insurance. He has been denied a kidney transplant because he needs to have his teefs fixed to the tune of $10K. His teefs and jawbone are damaged from the side effects of years of taking anti-rejection meds required due to his previous transplants...
  7. Legal advice, somebody ripped off my design.

Sounds to me like you have a pretty good chance of getting your design fee paid via our legal system. Hopefully you saved any type of correspondence you had with them, and had them sign the proposal etc. You did the design on a good faith agreement and were promised a deposit by them. Doesn't...
  8. 50% or 1/2 off?

I think 50% just looks better. But Half Price sounds better. Love....Jill
  9. Font ID.... please!!

I knew it had a "Jack" in it, it was on my old computer. I always like things with Jacks, being a Jill. :)
  10. old roll of film in the drawer

10 years ago I used brush Script too. I'm not too proud to admit it. Kinda like the grey drop shadow. I love finding old rolls of film and getting them developed. Love...Jill
  11. Font ID.... please!!

Darn it you beat me to it. It's been squeezed vertically too. Love....Jill
  12. Why never to ask favours from the designers

    That was freaking awesome. Love...Jill
  13. Al Checca

Who? Vince Simms? Amy Marcinkowicz? Or will you luck out and get Allison Morris? Make sure you don't say "uhhh" a lot. Good luck Al! We are all pulling for you.
  14. oddball font

Just bumping it up. Hopefully someone can recognize the nastiness. Love....Jill
  15. None of my suppliers carries...

Even if you can find mirror finish, it would be kind of crazy to put it onto a banner. Rolling/unrolling it is more than likely going to make tunnels and creases in it even if it does stick. Just go with regular copper metallic and explain to your client that's the best way forward. Love....Jill
  16. Looking for some new design books

Yeah that's it but nothing beats having the real book. My 1915 Atkinson also has a page of an old Speedball book used as a bookmark. And my Cecil Wade books were a gift from Arthur Vanson when I visited him. :) Love that old book scent.
  17. Customer Files

I just got a Word document which featured a jpg of a fire patch with a number superimposed over it (Hellvetica) Here let me just whip that right out in cut vynull! Yes all I do is just push a button. It's that easy. :) Love....Jill
  18. Banner before and after

Nice of you to do that, Bob. I'm the same, I often do things at a lesser cost or free if they just leave me the hell alone and let me pick the layout. :) My mom is a 10-yr breast cancer survivor. One thing though...is it years or years'? Another thing...make sure to tell them to roll...
  19. Color life of aluminum sheets?

It will last a lonnnng time. You don't need Frog Juice, it's a wasted step and will turn yellow. Like Bill said, just give it a good waxing if you're that worried about it. I have red aloonimum signs out there which are practically ancient, no fading no chalking. Pat's right, the vinyl won't...
  20. Font Help

Stamped on and slanted. Man that is a pet peeve of mine, the way some people don't care about how their letters connect. Honey Script has always been a fave, if done right. Love....Jill
