I got a slot cutter from accu-cutter, it broke in one day. The screws on the bottom of the die stripped out and now the base will not stay in line with the cutter.

Welcome. Why not design the signs and sub out the printing until you have the $25K you will need for the bare bones amount of equipment. $10k won't get you much.
