  1. High quality or standard?

I do just about everything in high speed mode. Maybe my SP540V is just calibrated well. But yeah, I get great colors, density, and image quality at 360dpi. Heck, press quality is only 300dpi, and that looks great close up. I just printed 5 full bleed 3x6 banners today in under 2 1/2 hours. This...
  2. Need Help Please, School Bus Font

One of the highway gothic series?
  3. Enlarging photos need help?

What you need is a 10' x 10' graphic at 72Ppi, which is 8,640 x 8,640 pixels. A standard 8x10 photo can be scanned in at 600 Ppi (if LAB printed), which enlarged gives you 4,800 x 3,600 Ppi, or mare than half of what you need. I would scan it into potoshop, accepting my scanners Srgb color...
  4. Can't hit my color

You may have better luck with a mix of 17% magenta with 62% yellow. Let me know if this if this works and I will tell you my trick. You could also print all of your other colors on white vinyl, contour cut, apply tape, and transfer onto your Kapco yellow vinyl, and them laminate. -Keith
  5. FYI: Eleven Ten Inks for Roland

I am almost certain that the registration marks printed from the Versaworks software, print with not only 100% K ink by default, but also 100% CMY also. The percentages may not be exact, but I KNOW that is is not just 100% K ink, therefore these aftermarket inks should not be any problem. -Keith
  6. Do you use a take up rail?

We did this a lot at the last place we worked. The owner hooked up a webcam to a computer close to the printer and always had it online. This way he could watch it at night (not to mention he could monitor our work progress from anywhere with internet access).
  7. near impossible vector job

Uh so was the quality of the original. Look at the difference in scale, I just did a tiny section and blew it up but the actions could apply to the entire map. I never said I would actually do anything with that sample, just wanted to see what a few mins could do and I found out there isn't...
  8. near impossible vector job

This attachment is 20 mins with the supplied work. Not perfect or sharp but fully vector and color editable.
  9. near impossible vector job

I know this post is a bit late, but thought i would chime in with my comments and possibly find out whatever happened with this project. I have scanned in maps of this size before and seamed them back together, but it would be much easier with one of those large format scanners. Anyway...
  10. best/easiest way to buy fonts

www.dafont.com has a lot of good free ones and they are organized very nicely. Some are free only for personal use, or try and buy deals.
  11. Color matching?

Dude open up your pantone swatches in your design software.
  12. Color matching?

Yeah if somebody wants to try my method and tell me how it works for them, I love to know.
  13. Color matching?

If you have a pantone color, I have a method that works pretty well. Open up your document in illustrator in RGB mode. You actually want to be in Adobe 1998 RGB, which is actually a profile meant for CMYK printing. Anyway, open up your "swatches" window in illustrator. In the top right hand...
  14. East Coast Jewelry

If that is times bold you better quit your day job, haha j/k. but seriously
  15. Font ID help

Looks like a mix of nero and dragon but not exactly either
  16. Open Face or stroke

It could also be a centerline stroke. Try Georgia with both.
  17. Mimaki printing wrong colors!

I would agree with you if the file required more than 3 shades of red and some black. Anything photographic or with photo objects should definately be tagged with or converted to Adobe RGB 98 prior to rip however. In cases like this logo I tend to just use my color chart printed on the closest...
  18. Mimaki printing wrong colors!

The file was more than likely created to look good on an RGB monitor, and the color values are horrible mixes when converted to CMYK values. Is it really that hard for you to hold a sample of the logo up to your color chart and plug in the color numbers that tell your printer to print the color...
  19. Increasing density in Versaworks

You want to make sure that the document your are using has the correct color profile embedded, and that versaworks knows that the file is US-Web Coated Swap v2 or whatever you have it tagged as. You have four or five different rendering intents to try if the file is RGB also. Try overprint, or...
  20. Scarecrow vector art or clipart

Here you go.. I am thinking about offering a vectorizing service to help pay for my education. Attched is what I was able to get from your original file, in about 15 minutes. Enjoy, and Please let me know what you think. -Keith
