  1. Need Help NEW to signmaking, new (OLDDDD) printer/plotter, cant get anywhere, please help!

According to your profile, you have 2 other functional machines. Why waste time and money on technology that's about 25 years old ??
  2. What printer to get Epson or HP

Most vinyls will be between 2mil and 4 mil for what you are asking. As for the cost, that seems super cheap. I'd be a little careful.
  3. Vinyl or banner material for billboard?

If you are allowed to wrap a building just about anywhere, why couldn't you wrap a shed...... if you own it on your own property ?? It would seem the billboard companies in your area would have more to squak about then regulations. We're wrapping a pole building in a few weeks and we're...
  4. Window sign

Then, you either didn't prep it correctly or there's a temperature difference and you need to let the tape on there a lot longer. I've already left it on overnight and told the customer to slowly remove it the next morning, if it's outta your way to go back.
  5. What vinyl are you printing your stickers onto, and why?

If you people don't know the difference between a decal or sticker, who gives a flyin' f*ck ?? As long as you can communicate with your customer, that's all that matters. I've called things by many many other names in order to get a job. I ain't about to split hairs over something so silly.
  6. Window sign

If you prepped the window properly, there wouldn't be any moisture or anything else on the glass. In fact, there shouldn't be any contaminants on it at all. How long until the vinyl starts to let go ?? Or is it happening while you're taking the application tape off ??
  7. Window sign

Did you put it on dry or wet method ?? If wet, what did you use ??
  8. Window sign

So, is this a reverse cut for inside or are you applying outside ?? My first question would be..... what and how did you prep the surface ??
  9. What vinyl are you printing your stickers onto, and why?

For the most part, most calendered vinyls are gonna be somewhere between 2.5mil to 4mil in thickness. Matching laminate will be in the neighborhood of 3 mil. I have no idea what or how you would use an 11 mil vinyl WITH laminate on anything. You seem to have a grasp on what you are using and...
  10. 2 Rolands 1 Print

Does it do it regardless of what material you are running ?? In other words, when you use your banner material and proper banner profiles, does it do it ?? If it's across the board on any media, than you've pretty much narrowed down the culprit. It seems your cyan head is crapping out, ever...
  11. Clear coat gold leaf, before or after lettering?

    :thumb: :thumb:
  12. Attaching ACM to Metal Fence

Yeah, or decapitating someone or going through someone's windshield. That would just be yucky.
  13. Attaching ACM to Metal Fence

Runners can be wood, metal, aluminum, tube..... can all be purchased at Home Depot and the likes. Sign supply houses have all kindsa brackets, too.
  14. Attaching ACM to Metal Fence

Sandwich the fence between the sign and a runner of whatever and secure it with fender washers. There are a myriad of brackets and things to use for this, but the fender washer/runner is the easiest and fastest. You do realize, you'll most likely need a second person ??
  15. Question Favorite Font

They go by weight or stroke. The extra bold extended is a very popular one. Oops, I didn't say that. :corndog:
  16. Question Favorite Font

Is this over yet ?? If so, I'm glad............................. :banghead:
  17. Should have been you .....

I know just how he feels. I always wanted to be a doctor/surgeon and help fix and cure people, but my parents said I should go into sign making.
  18. Discussion I've owned an HP R1000 since April 2019, ask me anything

I have one............ why is there air ??
  19. How should I do this?

Try sending one at a time. If that works, then reset the base point for a second run. In all honesty, sometimes it's better to actually do it the old fashioned way. Make a single pen run with it. put it on the vinyl, trace it and hand cut it. It's a very easy thing to do by hand with a...
