  1. Roland vs Mimaki 63"

Good luck Jesse, I'm sure you will love having that printer at work. Inkjet printers do an amazing job to increase & enhance the capabilities of any sign shop. Barry, I reluctantly concede. :peace!: Even though I would never buy a Roland... at a print width of 102".. the Roland printer you...
  2. Roland vs Mimaki 63"

Ok... I'll revisit this post, just for a little friendly rivalry... ..well for those who have the roland, it is good to know that eventually you guys durability will be "pretty close" to mine. :Big Laugh (along with the size) dbrock, I mentioned having 3 or 4 other reasons I...
  3. Having an issue with VersaCamm prints

Hi Jim... wow, another old Casmate dinosaur  (15 years here) I got the crossgrade to Flexi 3 years ago & then left it collecting dust until I bought a Mimaki inkjet printer 2 months ago. I upgraded to the latest version (7.6?) & have been getting real good color on all my prints.. I...
  4. Photoshop / Ilustrator question

nothing "Mac" about Adobe products... excellent pc versions have also been around forever, so no excuse to start using Corel on a PC
  5. GCC Bobcat B-60

I don't know anything about that cutter or software... but I do know that cutters cut vector files, & vector files don't "pixelate" so either your software is converting a vector file to uselessness... or the files were already useless. Saying your bringing files in from corel or illustrator...
  6. Photoshop / Ilustrator question

Trevor is correct in his comparison to flexi. As an Illustrator user for 15 years, I would disagree about Corel being easier to learn. Because you have Photoshop, I think the similarities between both adobe products would give you an edge on learning illustrator. Corel is easier to afford, but...
  7. Roland vs Mimaki 63"

Advantage & their excellent support IS the main reason I went with the Mimaki over the roland. Although that is the MAIN reason... I have 3 or 4 other reason I chose the Mimaki also. I just got off the phone 2 minutes ago from another participant here (to remain un-named) who was discussing...
  8. Solvent Printer Ventilation??

forgot this link to the duster I got: http://www.abetterink.com/Air%20Cleaner.htm
  9. Solvent Printer Ventilation??

I have a 63" Mimaki & I bought the Island Clean Air Duster for around the 5K pricetag Barry warned you about (minus all the discounts Advantage gave me on my printer/cutter/laminator/scrubber deal) I forgot to turn it on a few times that first week & that is the only reason I even know that...
  10. 50 Year Old Forum Virgin

welcome from Hawaii! (well, they can't call this place dougless)
  11. New 2 signs

welcome Mike! I love your design work in Dan Antonelli's logo design book. You may not "know much about signmaking"... but with design skills like that, you are way ahead a lot of us anyway. Glad to have some more wisdom of experience around here in the design department.
  12. Flexi Key Problem

is it a USB key? I sometimes shut down the program & remove the key to run Flexi on a different workstation, then when I come back to the first workstation, if I plug into a different USB port, when I launch the program, it asks for the key... but when I always use the same port, it never...
  13. font ID help request

thanks anyway, I've vectorized it & come up with several other offerings too.
  14. font ID help request

anybody recognize this? I can recreate the bevels, but to get some vectors for large cut letters & other matching copy for various signs, I wanted to find out if it even is a font?? I could isolate just the letters without outlines & maybe try whatthefont.com but thought I'd ask here first.
  15. I'm sorry in advanced.

put all your full color images in a simple cuttable shape... thenuse thermoflex for you white letters example. Charge less for white shirts, & more to cover the time to break out the sizzors for cutting your paper
  16. Are there issues with Flexi 7.6v2, I have 7.5v5

    ...how do you do that?
  17. Flexi 7.0 on Windows XP Pro Sp2 not print

I don't have much to offer, but I can say that I print to my Mimaki from Flexi 7.6 on XP pro SP2 & it works for me. I think you should get the Flexi upgrades. It is probably very inexpensive if you are already at 7.0 & I think there are many improvements. Maybe that will even get you fixed up.
  18. System OS upgrades

I have 4 XP pro workstations, 2 are new purchases with XP Pro sp2 already loaded, one is XP pro that was reformatted & upgraded to XPpro sp2. The last one is still on sp1 & I like it the best. There is an odd issue with my old archive data discs that makes them more difficult to use & the sp1...
