  1. Question Is there a trick to keeping a print head from drying out?

I have a Mutoh 1204 and I am curious if anyone has found a way to keep the print head from drying out for an extended period? If I do not have any print jobs I exercise the head once a week to keep the ink flowing. I would like to take a three or four week vacation but I am concerned about...

  3. Need Diagnostic Help With a Mutoh 1204

Right you are. The whole process took me about 20 minutes. Two screws hold the plastic top on and once loose all I had to do was remove the the tubes and out it came to work on the bench, then I was a simpe task to remove the carriage and pop the spare in with a new cap top to boot. I put it...

  5. Need Diagnostic Help With a Mutoh 1204

That's good news because I have two old stations and both carriages have all four pins intact. I was just looking at them and I see how it comes out. The right side lifts up if you push it all the wat to the right, then you twist gently to slip the other two left pins clear. Looks like the...
  6. Need Diagnostic Help With a Mutoh 1204

Looking closely at it the thing it hangs up when the head hits the cap top carriage stop and the head and carriage start up the ramp to seat the cap against the head. I can see what's happening. The cap top carriage has four small plastic pins that stick out into the slots that go up at an angle...
  7. Need Diagnostic Help With a Mutoh 1204

I never force or bend anything as I take extreme care with such delicate parts and surrounding cables. As you can see the station bracket goes under the mounting plate which is then mounted to the printer frame. The two screws marked with red arrows are the screws I loosen to get the station to...
  8. Need Diagnostic Help With a Mutoh 1204

I remember now I had this problem right away when I installed the new capping station. As a work around I loosened the two front screws supporting the station which lowered it about a 64th of an inch. Printer worked fine but I soon discovered the capping head was not sealing, so when I would run...
  9. Need Diagnostic Help With a Mutoh 1204

You are correct, the error is actually E074Err CR2 Current. I assume since the head is encountering an above normal resistance the motor is experiencing a higher than normal current draw? I'll work on a video as soon as I can.
  10. Need Diagnostic Help With a Mutoh 1204

Shortly after I replaced my capping station the print head assembly hangs up while parking and I get an E6 error. I am trying to determine if the problem is the capping station, a weak motor, or a defective sensor. Any troubleshooting advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
  11. Need Help Loss of printing, capping/maintenance station not performing cleaning

FYI, I discovered why my maintenance station failed. The little black tubes coming off the cap top were clogged with dried, tar like ink. I could have avoided replacing the station if I had just known to clean those tubes by removing them and cleaning them. So, I have adopted a new cleaning...

  14. cleaning solutions

Got referred to this thread because I wanted to know the difference between general cleaning solvent and head cleaning solvent. After reading all of this I wanted to report that the unused Mutoh flushing cartridges I purchased a few years ago, that have been sitting on a shelf undisturbed, had...
  15. Suggestions Head Cleaning Solvent vs. General Cleaning Solvent??

Interesting you should mention that. Several years ago I purchased 4 Mutoh CL cartridges because I was going to store my printer for a time. Never had a chance to use them. After reading your post I went to grab one and noticed the solvent had actually melted through the bags and melted the...
  16. Need Help Loss of printing, capping/maintenance station not performing cleaning

That is an excellent suggestion. :thumb: I have a number of syringes and fittings. Just running low on solvent, but yes, I will definitely give that a try and if it works I'll keep the station I ordered as a handy spare. Have you ever dissected one of those pumps? I did this morning. It's...
  17. Suggestions Head Cleaning Solvent vs. General Cleaning Solvent??

I have noticed that some sellers of ink solvent state that their general cleaning solvent is not to be used for print head flushing/cleaning. So what is the difference between the two types of solvents? Is one stronger than the other? Does anyone sell a solvent that is suitable for both uses?? I...

  19. Need Help Loss of printing, capping/maintenance station not performing cleaning

It's the 1204GA. I replaced the cap top and it still will not pull ink. I ordered a new maintenance station. In the meantime I have been soaking the head by placing a couple of pieces of microfiber cloth in the cap top and soaking it with cleaner. So far I have been able to clear all the nozzels...
