Any tips on removing paper liner while applying adhesive to acrylic with a roll laminator? It constantly tears and takes longer to remove the paper than apply adhesive.
Acrylic can be difficult because the surface tension is higher than most media and the dots don’t spread out.
Your machine is probably also out of alignment. I would have it re-aligned. Just moving the machine would require this.
You can also try raising the head very slightly (like .01”...
We use ergosoft for rip and linearization then xrite for profiles. Just be sure to let the profile charts settle before scanning them - like 12-24 hours to be safe.
1. Try mounting on top of a rigid carrier like a piece of acrylic or dibond.
2. Be sure and use extruded acrylic as well. Cast acrylic can have low spots that make bubbles.
3. Like Carl said, a c print is a chemical print, not an inkjet print. I would try smooth gloss paper instead of...
Installed in August last year then replaced in December. The new one has twice the printheads so it’s faster. Also has the flow bed which does not have to be masked. Thankfully, no problems with overspray.
That’s seems like the same problem we had. After one 4x8 sheet we would have cyan ink drops on our carriage.
Ours was a 1380XT which ended up going back to Venlo. I don’t think the techs had any idea what the problem was. They re-aligned everything and replaced the printhead but it kept...
We had a problem similar to this and ended up swapping out the machine. Cyan was spraying all over the place. How much printing did you do to get that much ink on the carriage?
Yes, you can see the wave very distinctly. We use the DP and even it is wavy. Does not bother us because we UV print it without laminating. I can see how laminating across the grain would create bubble.
We do this a lot. You can get optically clear adhesive from most any supplier. Heat assist laminator is a bonus to help the adhesiion on less than smooth papers. Just be sure and do it on a stiff carrier if you first apply the adhesive to the print.
I’ve done my own profiles for 15 years as well. Didn’t know what I didn’t know. He used a special profiling tool so the same engine created the profiles for everything.
One thing for sure, the rip built profiles where deficient in different ways on each of our 3 rips. Especially the greens...
That is the infamous alien girl image. It is often used to proof color setup. If you can print her face you can print about anything. The Granger Rainbow is even more difficult to print smoothly.
We recently had Mike Adams from Correct Color come and profile all our machines to match. We...
DP has similar issues but since we are printing as opposed to laminating it has not caused as much concern. Used to be glass flat until our most recent order. I hoped it was a batch problem but sounds like a larger issue from this thread.
It’s also runs against the long edge in ours. Perhaps...
As long as the vacuum dac is calibrated, you have a manometer built in. If the white ink is saturating the meniscus vacuum filter you’ve got serious problems already. Most likely not related to the vacuum being higher than spec.
