  1. Any guess what this media is?

I bet you're right. I was going off memory but it is actually a 54" not a 60". I reached out to that company but got no response, I'm thinking they may have gone under.
  2. Any guess what this media is?

That's definitely worth chasing down, the auction was near that area so would stand to reason. Appreciate the help!
  3. Any guess what this media is?

Bought this roll as part of an auction lot, don't recognize the logo and a search for "iflex", "clflex", "colflex" doesn't give me anything vinyl related. It's a 60"x150'(ish), matte (very matte, almost paper-look to it) with gray air release adhesive on a white backing, not super thick 3-4 mil...
  4. Lettering on metal cups

black blast or black beauty is coal slag and is generally too coarse to give the proper surface profile on a microscopic level. Think about when you sand something - if your "scratches" are too deep then when the paint levels out you have deep pools and shallower (thinner) spots on the surface...
  5. Sublimated towel source?

Anyone got a good supplier? I've reached out to 2 companies and not gotten a response from either. I need about 70 pieces for an upcoming project (can work within whatever minimums if need be). Have 2 potential design options, one is full coverage, one is just a corner.
  6. Lettering on metal cups

Cerakote isn't food-safe. Technically KG isn't officially listed as such, but it is FDA compliant. If that's a concern for you and your customers. That being said, I know tons of folks that cerakote tumblers. One big advantage of KG over cerakote is that you don't have to catalyze it, so...
  7. Lettering on metal cups

I have a cheap-o harbor freight blast cabinet with a few upgrades. For limited work, theirs will do just fine as long as you seal the seams with a tube of silicone before you start using it. You'll want some form of dust collection (shop vac with a HEPA filter is fine for a while). Also, it's a...
  8. Lettering on metal cups

Sorry I missed this! Hopefully in order of your questions: •The surface needs a proper profile for adhesion, best accomplished by a light blasting with 120 grit AlOx or Garnet. •I always clean/degrease before blasting to avoid potential contamination into my blast media or driving it into the...
  9. Dumb question time : vinyl cutter

That first video looks a lot like what happens when you screw up with a cold laminator. Bet you could adapt one fairly easily to do similar.
  10. Lettering on metal cups

cut a mask, sandblast, apply GunKote, bake. I've done literally thousands of tumblers over the last 5-6 years with this method and a few others. Really depends on what image you're wanting to put on them as to the best method to apply. Vinyl is only temporary.
  11. Ram 1500 Promaster

Not on this hard drive, but I've got a template somewhere. I'll see if I can dig it up tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I found it online somewhere with a search. Maybe not the first link but def within the first few.
  12. Odd question for time & material

Maybe charge them a reasonable fee for the removal, like double whatever you charge for the gilded lettering, but also make it clear to them that this was a one-time deal of a price and future issues (that are their fault) will be billed at the standard shop rate. IE: it's only gonna cost you...
  13. Thoughts on wall printers?

So if the end result desired is painted text on the wall, why can't you just cut some paint mask and stencil it? Basically same end result as screen print, your client gets what they want, and you come out the hero and $ in your pocket. I think you're making this harder than it needs to be.
  14. Multicam

totally thought this post was going to be about camouflage
  15. Painting Aluminum

I've not tried vinegar, but suspect it to be too mild of an acid to really get a good surface profile on the aluminum. I could be wrong, but that's my gut feeling. The purple power does a great job of degreasing AND if left on longer will also etch to a great profile for paint adhesion. As...
  16. Painting Aluminum

So for my other business I prep, paint and then apply hydrographics to several hundred pieces of raw aluminum each month. Aluminum needs to be etched for proper adhesion, scuffing or sanding or even sandblasting works, but you know what else does? Lye, which happens to be the main ingredient in...
  17. crazy question

Fuzzy memory of college statistic class makes me think you're talking about en Euler circuit. Where it cycles through every path only once and ends up at the start point, while being the most efficient route.
  18. name badges

That looks domed. I've seen them offered by Zoogee. HTH.
  19. Embroidered and PVC Patches?

FWIW, I had good luck with Flex Systems a few years ago when I had some PVC stuff done.
