  1. Font ID Please

Got it done! That was FUN! Apparently I cannot upload a DXF file, so get your email address to me and I will send you the file. Joe
  2. Plywood Yard Art

She is a professional MOTHER and I seriously doubt that any of us could even approach her level of expertise in that field. Joe
  3. Plywood Yard Art

No. Plywood bends in one direction, but I have yet to see someone bend a sheet of plywood SIDEWAYS. Joe .
  4. Plywood Yard Art

RIGHT! Unless you are planning to have your yard art found by archeologists in the 25th CENTURY, just make them look good NOW, and quit worrying about making them last 300 years. The decorations you showed us, Christmas Carolers, Pilgrims, ... I assume pumpkins and goblins, and Easter...
  5. Font ID Please

Ah, what the Hell! Almost done, but I have to crash for the night. Maybe tomorrow ... Joe
  6. Font ID Please

I could easily create a DXF file for you in DesignEdge, but what do I know? I ain't one of them pro-feshnils like the other braggadocious guys here with DECADES of experience. I'm just a dumb old Kentucky redneck HOBBYIST who makes signs for FUN. Who would be stupid enough to turn to me for...
  7. Font ID Please

It is not to be found....
  8. Font ID Please

Aw, heck! Just ask Fred to run it through his magnificent font ID program that he developed in a secret underground government laboratory in Antarctica 40 years ago. He is not shy about telling you that it doesn't need any improvement. So just buy the program for $49.00 and then EASILY...
  9. The FONT Project

I invite you to visit a large Christmas Arts and Crafts Faire sometime at a convention center. You will be amazed at what those unprofessional, stumbling, bumbling "hobby people" clods can produce. Joe .
  10. Plywood Yard Art

I am wondering why you would use WOOD at all? It is an organic material that is susceptible to molds and moisture and such. Since it is going to be entombed in paint to seal it and protect it from the elements, no one is going to know that it is WOOD anyway. Why not use HDU foam (aka "SIGN...
  11. Plywood Yard Art

By thin wafer, I mean a strip of 3/4 plywood. A plywood sign does not need a 4x4 on the back to keep it from warping. Two strips of 3/4" plywood attached to the rear and "glued and screwed" perpendicular to the surface, perhaps 1.5"x22"x3/4" each would keep the face of the sign straight. Joe
  12. The FONT Project

Well, there is certainly no shortage of people who are quick to tell me it cannot be done. That is for sure. Do you know the story of the start of Federal Express? Joe .
  13. Plywood Yard Art

I see. In YOUR WORLD, it is "Stupid" to point out the fact that the same garment is known by many different names... and a "stringer" is ONLY what YOU say it is. Got'cha. Joe .
  14. Plywood Yard Art

A stringer is a straight piece of rigid material attached to another piece of material or a structure, either parallel or perpendicular in orientation, in order to provide an opposing force to a load that would otherwise force the main piece to yield and bend under duress. A stringer is used to...
  15. Plywood Yard Art

When the "load" that it is bearing is simply to prevent a 24" plywood sign from bowing, the STRINGERS attached to the rear of the sign and perpendicular to the rear surface will do exactly that. Joe
  16. Plywood Yard Art

That will come as quite a shock to HOBBY LOBBY and CRICUT. Joe .
  17. Plywood Yard Art

Do you wear pants? Or do you wear trousers? Or do you wear jeans? Or do you wear slacks? Or do you wear corduroys? Or do you wear bloomers? Or do you wear knickerbockers? Or do you wear bell bottoms? Or do you wear cords? Or do you wear denims? Or do you wear baggies? What is the name...
  18. The FONT Project

I did try it. It succeeded about 50% of the time. If your program has SOLVED the Font identification problem, why are community forums littered with "Help me identify this font!" posts? It would seem that this problem should no longer exist. Joe .
  19. The FONT Project

My thought is that serif or sans serif will not matter one bit. Each individual shape will have its own unique fingerprint. We are told that NO TWO HUMAN FINGERPRINTS are ever the same. Throughout history! Tens of billions of people who are alive NOW, and those who have passed, and yet, no...
  20. Plywood Yard Art

You know ... all across 'Merica, people use different words to describe the same things. I guess they just didn't check with YOU first. Joe
