Funny to stumble across this today. Yes that is real wood (Honduras Mahogany) but have also completed similar jobs with composite decking. This was actually build to fit over a concrete structure which is under the sign. The wood panels are attached to an aluminum frame from the back with screws...
You will want to weld studs onto the corten and them leave a small gap with a spacer between the steel and acrylic for water to flow. Fender washers and nuts to hold the acrylic on, hand tight with loktite so it can move.
As a wholesale vendor I can tell you that using upright inch (the longest length of the letter) for pricing does work but you need to work out the pricing carefully. Upright inch pricing does not typically include lighting as you need to consider stroke. Upright inch formula + lighting +...
silicone sucks on acrylic, it will eventually fail and you will have a nice lump of silicone on the wall and a perfectly clean letter on the ground that looks like you never touched it with silicone - it just does not stick well. BUT there is any easy solution - we prime any acrylic we adhere...
We are working on a project for Mars Hill Church here in Seattle and they sent out a guy to film us working for a day and it turned into a whole 15 second video. I could not figure out how to embed the vid here so you will just have to scroll down our FB page a little -...
Then the bracket is not really the issue but attachment. I would go for something like 2" square tube welded to a 1/4" plate (probably 6" x 6"). How many and what kind of hardware depends on the wall. Solid concrete could hold that easily if your using the right expanding fasteners - thats where...
Engineer is likely serious overkill for a sign that size. Is this just a panel or what is the sign? We just did 16 4' x 6' double sided aluminum cabinets with neon for locations all over the country and only 2 cities asked for engineering and no changes were made to my design. Need more details...
Yes it can be done and we have done it but I hate doing it because there are so many things that can go wrong. Its not a smart choice for production runs or a long term solution. If you start with a sharp (like new) bit and have it dialed in right your going to get a nice smooth cut with some...
Yes if its a drop ceiling that should be pretty easy to fish the wires up and then place the transformer above the wall. Neon or LED? LED would make that much easier otherwise you will need to run NM conduit.
Otherwise you would need to have a raceway behind it, depending on the layout I...
And slow your RPMs down to around 9k. I run mine at 8000RPM 1/4" end mill upcut at 50 IPM but also run a vortex air cooler. Your problem is that the aluminum is soft, getting hot and then gumming up your bit which as you know makes a nasty mess and ruins your bit. Make sure your bit is sharp -...
Sorry, I meant to say that not ALL ACM is listed. I believe DiBond is recognized for certain applications but would have to go back and read the SAM which I only do in severe cases of insomnia.
We use .063 mostly unless they are small (16" and under). ACM is not UL listed but if you are using LEDS then it does not need to be, once you throw neon or other 120AC lighting in there you need to use a UL approved enclosure material for back, sides, and faces.
We have a 3000 and not a problem in 4 years. The service will depend on your dealer so choose wisely there. Service used to be great for us and then our dealer sold to another company and its not so hot anymore.
